Well, let's start with the atmosphere. It is extremely unappealing. The colors are off putting and the furniture is cheap and tacky. It was cold inside. One window has two aircondtioners in the window over a booth. Why would anyone want to sit there and freeze? Moved to another table and same thing the air duct above, by the time it hit us the air was cold. I watched a few orders to go and I can see why.
The bathroom was filthy, there was no toilet paper, when I used the last of it. Each stall was empty. No soap, I had go swipe what was left on the counter. Makes me wonder what they were using in the kitchen. Having to use the bathroom because the food was so harsh. I have traveled around and ate at many places. This would have to be a dive. My friend I just asked him who has traveled Asia extensively, said he would have given them a 3. I replied I just did. Asked if he would return.. he also said no. There supplies are stored next to the bar, in a barage of cardboard boxes. Not a place to take a date.
The chily onion Naan was extremely spicy and it ruined the experience. I can handle spice, but I could not taste the rest of the food as a result. The Kadai lamb in tomato sauce, tasted like Campbell's soup. I remember the taste as a child... as an adult... taste have changed. That's cool if you like that sorta thing. But I really wondered if that is what they are using to cut cost. No offense, it is what it tasted like. We both wondered what the garbage bin would have.. The chunks of meat are too big and very chewy. Meh... I can do better...we ordered medium spice... My insides immediately started to burn 🔥. I have cured IBS, but this way too much. Yes the portions are way to small for the price. Perhaps get a food truck so you don't have to pay for the cost of the building. It is just not attractive setting anyhow. Went to bed a 10 pm, woke up at 1 am passing the food I just ate. This never happens when I cook at home or at any other restaurant. Tried the leftover cream spinach and cheese curd this morning. Not spicy now. It had to have been the Naan..( perhaps cut back on that item or give fair warning). Just to see what would happen with a few bites. And well my stomach is making all kinds of noise. It is 6 am and I have not slept since I awoke. Wow... will I go back? Mmmmm probably not. Have eaten many spicy dishes, but this has some herbs and spices that are unpleasant. I think the rave about this place is because this town has never had an Indian establishment in it.. and the flavors are different. But covering up meat with a bunch if flavor isn't great when the meat is tough.. Best of luck, you have some improving to do if you want us to come back. I can...
Read moreAfter seeing the previous reviews i was skeptical but i've tried every restaurant in town so...
The prices are high but in range of what you get in most restaurants around here. I got takeout and the portion size was what i'd expect, not the small portion many of the eat-in reviewers experienced.
The food quality was what i've come to expect from an Indian restaurant - good, better than average.
They could really benefit from a cheaper lunch special to capture the hearts and minds and stomachs of us non-Google locals. And i think they can easily, and should customize the spice level for every customer.
edit; I went for the inside experience which was about the same from a price and quality standpoint, but with some cheesy atmosphere. I want to re-reiterate my point about customisation. I ordered the special and asked for spicy but got normal.
$25 for tandoori chicken, some chickpea dahl thing, a little cup of yogurt, a small bowl of rice (enough for one but not both entrees), several pieces of naan (which needed more butter and/or salt), a tiny sweet ball of dough in syrup ("desert") and a coke, plus an add-on mango lassi ... decent food, expectable price. I still think the portion sizes aren't terrible,
I can't rate the service because i was the only one in the restaurant and could get any service i wanted at any time, but i believe they'd be accommodating in general. The atmosphere could definitely...
Read moreDefinitely not even close to "the best indian restraunt." I sat at the bar, and ordered a Stella draft. Bartender couldn't pour if his life depended on it. The mug was half foam, half beer. He stood and stared at it for while before handing it to me. I drank it in 3 gulps and ordered food. He went off to make my food himself, I assume, without refilling my glass first. Came back with the food, and refilled my beer. Same story. Half was foam and he stared at the glass for at least a full minute, hoping the foam would dissapate. and he could pour the rest. It didn't. Finally I told him to give me the half, and charge me for one full Stella total, and I'd switch to bottled beer after. The buttered chicken I got was alright. I've had much better for cheaper than the $18 it cost here. I got garlic naan as well, and it was cooked too crisp, but at least it was decently priced at $4. Usually I take the naan in hand and pinch together scoops of curry and rice. Couldn't do that with this naan without it snapping in half. I cleaned the plate, so it wasn't BAD, but it wasn't impressive at all. I've had Indian food in the middle of the desert in Arizona that was cheaper than this and FAR tastier too. "Best Indian Restaurant" this is not....
