Almost attacked my two dogs. I think there needs to me more signage and enforcement to keep dogs on a leashes in this area. A man (tallish with a grey goatee or beard) with three dogs running around unleashed on the Riverwalk portion in Sleepy Hollow, south of the lighthouse 12/17/22 about 4pm. The man was probably 50 yards in front of his dogs. My wife and I walked past the dogs without incident as they were probably 100 feet away from where we were. Suddenly we heard one of the dogs barking and charging at us. It was a black labradoodle (I think), I faced the dog. It stopped about 10 feet away and continued to bark aggressively. Then one of the other dogs, a small black and white fur ball joined in and lunged at me. I yelled at it and took a swipe with my foot. It backed off. The third medium sized dog which was brown and white was not aggressive. By this time I'd fumbled to get my dog mace out of my pocket. Unfortunately for me it didn't work and I stumbled in the mud and fell down. By then I could hear the owner calling them way off in the distance and the dogs ran off. The Riverwalk is a beautiful place for a walk (normally a 5 star rating) but it was certainly spoiled for me this day as I limped home with my side covered in mud. I figure posting here would bring more awareness to the problem than a...
Read moreGreat view from over here and is a nice spot to view the sunset and enjoy fireworks on the 4th of July. If you come early, there are spots to just sit around and relax which is what many people did with blankets and tents, but my family and I were only here visiting for a few hours so we left pretty early.
Got some cool pictures just sitting here and there are also some benches as well as a couple of chairs with tables in between. With the hot sun, it's good to bring a hat or sit in the shade unless you're trying to burn or get really, really tan.
Overall, glad I came here. It was very pleasant despite it being so hot outside, but luckily it cooled down. Also, fair warning if you come here on a holiday like the 4th of July where there's a lot of people gathered, try to use the restroom anywhere else besides here if you're a woman. The ladies' restroom line was about 30 people long and it was a long wait for my mom and sister. If you're a man, there was literally no restroom line, so you should be fine. But nonetheless, it is a park restroom so cleanliness is not really expected, so if you can use the restroom elsewhere before you arrive, just go ahead...
Read moreLove the Park and walking trail BUT BEWARE OF THE CONFUSING PARKING and FINES. The parking lot signs here are confusing and the separation between Tarrytown residents only parking vs public access parking is not clear at all. When I saw a meter maid giving out tickets I asked her if she can direct me to the right area for non resident parking and she wouldn't help. She just told me go read the signs. I said to her the sign is not clear as to what area bc the parking lots look the same without clear separation and she being the metermaid would know what area is for who to park but she still refuse to clarify. Instead I watched her allow a whole bunch of people to park and leave and then she purposely walk over to their car and give them a ticket. A respectable city official would have said something to help people. Absolutely worthless of a human being to purposely not provide info or guidance just so she can fulfill her quota. Despicable city employee, should be fired. Her picture and govt vehicle license plate are attached in the photos below. In the end a local resident walked up to me and pointed out where it was safe to park and pay the...
