I go to this store at least twice a week and used to love it. It usually has a good selection of goods and is convenient for me. However it has been going from bad to worse lately. Today, upon getting out of the car in the parking lot there is a severe stench coming from the loading dock area. Inside, the produce area was very badly stocked and what’s there was not fresh and I wouldn’t buy any of the vegetables/lettuce. The meat department was so so but always in need of cleaning. The milk fridges always smell. The deli department is a disgrace. While it usually appears to be well enough staffed, The slicing machines are always filthy looking with several inches of crumbs on every single one of them. Despite the signs there they NEVER ask how you want your cold cuts sliced and they rarely show them to you before packing them into the bag (which they then always use the pricing label to seal & it is very annoying as the bag must then be torn in order to open it). The deli counter and weigh scales area is also very dirty and has crumbs etc all over. The check out area was also dirty and in need of getting a rub. I really hope someone takes control of these problems as I know I’m not the only person seeing these issues and I really want to remain a...
Read moreA clean store and typically we'll stocked, this key food earns 4 stars. Selection is fair, what you would find in most long Island chain supermarkets. There are in store butchers and fish mongers, but good luck finding them. Some sales require you to use a club card (free) which is annoying in my opinion. There is a small floral section with good to fair prices. Where this store lacks is, once the butchers leave, they don't leave enough meat on the shelves. Sometimes key food runs sales on good cuts of meat like ny strip or rib steaks. You would think a merchant would prepackaged a bunch of this in the back. Within an hour of the butcher leaving anything good is sold out. So if you are a late shopper, don't count on sale items being there. This also applies to some groceries. Some vegetables are a little on the pricey side. This market is best during business hours. King kullen being around the corner has late hour fish mongers, deli workers, etc. If you shop after work, king kullen is a...
Read moreWe enjoyed shopping at this store, even though the prices are a bit higher than other places in the area. Good product selection. However, today was the second time that I found that the amount charged for some items was much higher than the price posted on the sale card taped at the item. One example. Minneola Tangelos. Price card posted above the item said $.99 ea. Charged $4.50 for 3. Cashier said that was the sale circular price. (2 for $3.00). The last time I was overcharged, I went to the manager for a refund. Don't want to argue with the cashier (that is just annoyed at the hassle) and don't want to chase down the manager for every problem. Seems like a deliberate deception. I'll still stop for odds and ends when it is convenient, but it would be foolish to make this our regular market. Update: They did it again. Apples marked at $1.99/lb rang at $2.49. Chips marked 2/$6 rang up...
