One thing I love about the summer is finding cute little restaurants on the well traveled path that I might have missed while driving but they caught my attention walking! Seeing the beautiful plate of hummus on the plate of a diner that was seated on the patio, I decided to pop in for lunch at Greek Town. I am so glad I made that decision because the food here reminded me why I love Greek food and took me straight back to my trip to Athens! We were greeted warmly and told to sit wherever, our server also suggested a larger table seeing that we had computers and this might be a working lunch. A round of water and a small glass of the house red because Greek wine does not give me headaches, so I was happy to enjoy a nice sip. We started the meal with hummus, you don’t even need to ask, and when I tell you it was the perfect smooth blend of all the right ingredients, plate dressed with cucumbers, tomates and a healthy dash of smoked paprika. Yes, this hummus comes with enough pita to feed three people, so no need to order extra, and I could drink that tzatziki! I decided to order something I have never eaten, so I went with the Moussaka, layers of eggplant, potatoes, and ground meat, topped with a bechamel sauce, served with peas and a side greek salad. The side salad is huge, and enough to share between two, so keep that in mind when ordering, you could choose a different side and split the salad if you wanted. I am a lover of eggplant so the Moussaka was perfect. I will say that I am not a fan of the bechamel on top. It's not needed in my opinion, but it makes the dish rich and also very appealing to the eye. Shrimp Kabobs was the second entree we tried, and this is for my lovers of succulent shrimp that has a nice smoky but hint of lemon flavor. The rice is a perfect pair and the vegetables are still slightly crisp. I did expect the shrimp to be on a skewer when served, but they were delicious just the same. I did not order dessert, who had room for any, but the baklava looked just as good as everything else, and I should have gotten a slice to go! This meal was a walk down memory lane for me, I fell in love with Greek food as I fell in love with Greece, and hopefully I will have the opportunity to visit several times in this lifetime and the next! So if you find yourself in Long Island, Rockville Center to be exact, check out Greek Town Authentic Greek Kitchen, the food is amazing, the service quick and attentive, the prices are from low to mid depending on your budget and you better tell them Unnerved Traveler sent you! Enjoy Unnerved Traveler

Are you looking for a way to enjoy a quick trip to Athens or the Peloponnese without an eight-hour flight? Try heading to the south shore of Nassau County to the Greek Town restaurant located in the heart of Rockville Centre. The atmosphere is the Mediterranean with cafe tables, photos of Greece, and greenery along with lots of Greek music. This all brings you right to the islands of Greece, warm and cozy. The food is good, and the portions are ample. For appetizers, try the Saganaki Kasseri (Melted Greek cheese over tomatoes) and Spanakopita (Spinach Pie). Both are flavorful and prepared deliciously. For entrees, The Greek Town special includes a variety of meats; lamb gyro, pork shish kebob, Greek sausage with peas, peppers, onions, and the Youveti - (baby lamb shank)is served with orzo (rice-shaped pasta) in a tomato oreganato sauce. Both are outstanding, and likely; a portion will accompany you home. While they do have a traditional dessert menu, we have yet to have room to taste it!

Solid Greek food, portions are quite large. Yeseria, the young lady who served us, was kind, friendly with a smile, and absolutely fabulous attitude! We were passing through town for one day and two guys had a hard time sharing and finishing two appetizers of spreads and kalamari, a horiatiki salad and one main dish of lamb youvetsi. We took some to go. Saved room for a juicy baklava and great rice pudding. Tip well, the service was stellar!

My family has been patrons to greektown for over 20 years. I used to work here for the previous owner along with my friends and even cousins. Since the new owners have taken over this restaurant has slowly gone downhill. I put 1 star only because zero was not an option.

My order never changes: Chicken gyro no lettuce French fries on the side Gyro French fries on the side 2 veggie pizzas no eggplant(I am allergic) Dolomades Extra pita and tzatziki sauce Quart of avgolemono soup

Total comes to $77

Last time my veggie pizzas had eggplant when I specific asked for no eggplant and The young man taking my order said it doesn’t come with the eggplant which it shouldn’t it’s not supposed to.

The avgolemono soup used to be white meat only, the new owners have since changed this to dark meat

The gyros when you order The fries on the side used to come in a separate container from the french fries. Tonight the french fries came in the same to go container which made them extremely soggy and the pita for both gyros soggy and impossible to eat as they kept falling apart.

The tzatziki sauce consists of Greek yogurt, cucumbers and spices. The spices are now nonexistent. You might as well order cucumbers with sour cream.

I called the restaurant to explain how unacceptable my families food came out. I did receive an apology and my only option was to get a credit for me to have a meal in the future or for me to drive back to their restaurant for them to remake the items that we had issues with. I don’t live in Rockville Centre in fact I live a couple of towns away, it was 730 at night and it wasn’t my mistake why should I have to drive back to their restaurant? When I spoke with the owner and this was still the only option and I had told him the only way I’d be satisfied is if he had his delivery person deliver to my house a couple of towns away my order he hung up on me.

I will never be eating at this restaurant ever again, my entire family will hear about this and they won’t want to eat at Greek town either. I will no longer recommend Greek town to anyone I know either.

We miss Leonnora! her delicious authentic recipes and excellent customer service who she treated...

Good food, weak service. We got gyro's and a few house salads. Salads were ok - decent size and decent flavor. Gyro's were ok - a bit lacking in meat, but priced fairly and they were fresh. I would give this place 4 stars, but the service pulled it down a star. Perhaps if we had gotten another waitress, it would have gone better. I always think a waitress should be watching - in this case, watching to see if I am looking around trying to get her attention to remind her of stuff she forgot... When we first got there place was mostly empty. There were 6 of us, so they pushed two small tables together. If a table holds one person per side, why would pushing two of them together give you a table that holds three per side? (...and I'm a big guy...). Since the place was fairly empty, I asked it we could grab another table. She explained that the table she had made for us holds 6, so we should be good. And to answer the obvious question - no, those other tables did not ever fill up while we were there. You would think after that awkward moment, there would be an effort to keep the table served - check in, want more napkins?, more water? Do you still need the catsup I asked you if you wanted and you said yes, and then I never brought it, and then I watched you get up and ask another employee for? You know, that kind of stuff. Nope. Nada. We left a 15% tip because that is the lowest my wife will leave. Overal food was decent and place was clean. My plan is to wait a while and try them again - by then waitress may have moved on to...
