Wegmans — Attraction in Town of Niagara

I'd like to start off by saying I don't ever write negative reviews and I am generally an easy going person, but my experience with the bakery in regards to my daughters birthday cake isn't something I want anyone to deal with.

I went to Wegmans to order my daughter's birthday cake a week in advance. I looked through their book, which advertised what cakes they sell, designs, and decorations, etc. I ordered a fairly simple cake. A round, one tier cake with a border that wraps around the exterior of the cake. The one advertised looked really nice, so I chose my own theme and went from there.

When speaking with the young girl at the bakery's customer care, I described in great detail how I would like the cake. Like I stated before, medium, one layer, round cake with the border, lots of hot pink and purple, my daughter's name, happy birthday, balloons, amd asked if they could put a tiny tiara angled above her name, amd if not that's fine. I really wanted it to pop. The young girl seemed fairly confused the whole time, but she was very nice. I just double checked her copy of the caje amd description prior to getting my own receipt.

I picked the cake up a couple of days ago after work. The same young girl was there and remembered me, which is nice. She handed me the cake and I took a quick glance and I was immediately dissatisfied with the lack of aesthetics. She didn't take the time to ask if I was satisfied she just walked off. I was in a hurry, and being that it was Friday afternoon, the checkout lines were long, so on.

I got back to my in laws house and my mother in law was eager to see the cake (she had been with me when I picked it amd was excited to see the end result). The cake completely lacked the "pop" in the color department. The icing was white, even around the edge of the cake where normally a baker, or myself, would choose a contrasting color, like a hot pink or purple that I requested. The writing was in pink and purple, pastels, and they didn't "have space" for a small tiara. There were 3 sets of little frosted balloons, that clearly could have been substituted for the tiara. The border of the cake wasn't measured correctly when the had applied it. So, there was one piece of border that wrapped around about 3/4 of the cake and they had cut out another piece to fit the last quarter, but it was blatantly obvious because it was peeling off. In addition to that, the border was taller than the cake itself. The border was about 1/4 of an inch above the cake, higher than the decorative frosting that was placed around the circumstance. The cake served 8 small pieces, which is equivalent to a small, but I asked for medium..10-12.

I paid $8 for the border that was completely and obviously measured incorrectly, amd placed on poorly. My instructions in regards to color and decor were ignored. My mother and sister in law were as shocked as I was that Wegmans would make amd GIVE the customer such a poorly made cake. Wegmans has always been quality over quantity, which is why I chose them over Walmart. Next time I'll go to an actual baker or Walmart.

I honestly don't like to criticize, but I don't want someone else to have the same experience. Luckily, my daughter is 3 and cared more about the frosting, but for future reference, I'll go to an actual baker, or even Walmart, before going back to...

Just a Nice Place to Shop. Employees are always friendly n knowledgeable. They have a great selection of prepared meals. A wonderful Salad , Sushi and Mediterranean Bars, a Great Submarine Counter with BIG fresh made subs prepared in front of you to your liking 😊!! Good selection of Fresh Meats that look Great. Wonderful fresh produce locally grown when in season. Always a Beautiful selection of Fresh Flowers💐Plants, Flowering Plants and Planted Baskets. Garden Decor and needs. On my visit today was very impressed with Michelle she was giving out samples of their fresh cold pressured O.J. which was very good. She took the time to explain the processes of making orange juice. The difference between pressed (squeezed) and Wegman's Fresh Cold Pressured Orange Juice. Michelle's presentation was interesting. I learned alot from her in a few minutes, I am glad I stopped to talk 😀 Also Gina was very friendly n helpful at the Fresh Cut Variety Vegetable and Potato Fries. Wegmans does a real good job hiring Nice Intelligent People who seem to love their job. The store is Clean, Tidy, Nicely Decorated, and Laid out. Easy Getting around and out. Plenty of Cashiers working!! They really have the Best Variety of Prepared Foods and Single Complete Meals. Extensive Soup Salad Bar and The Mediterranean Bar* ( *in cheese section )!The food looks Great and everything i have purchased from here has been top rate and tasted delicious 😋 Wegmans is the best for this option😍 No other grocery store comes close! 😎🇺🇸🔥💯

Wegman's in Niagara Falls on Military Rd is across the street from many outlet stores that will surely catch your eye HomeDepot, Hobby Lobby, PetSmart, Munchies delicious frozen yogurts, a large Walmart, and even Kirkland's and more. Then there is everything inbetween which includes restaurants such as AppleBees and Panera Bread to name a couple. But Wegman's is the one grocery store here in WNY that we can't live without; basically, it has everything you need and could possibly want. Only the freshest produce, the most mouthwatering fresh breads, and baked goods plus that includes hot meals to go and they're always a winner. It's not the largest Wegman's around but a perfect size for the area. (They don't sell any wine in the NY stores but in PA they do and a great variety at that. C'mon NYS!) If you do need spirits, just make a right out of Wegmans on Military Rd, about 2 lights or 5 minutes down, and you'll see Supermarket Liquors on the corner on the right facing you next to Harbor Frieght, and they're open until 10pm weekly and 12 midnight on weekends. However, if there are any beer lovers out there (?) you will find a HUGE selection to pick from only at Wegmans! Great place to go and stock up for all you tailgaters before the games; you'll find your beer of choice, pick from a great selection of foods and of course, they even sell our Buffalo Bill's and Sabres gear, ie, shirts, caps, and the like. Hey, don't forget to pick up your lottery tickets on the way out and a flower bouquet for your special lady!
