My family has been coming to Old Forge for years. My parents even came as children with their parents. Water Safari is fantastic. Even if its packed, its always fun. Although I cant say the same for Calypso's Cove next-door. I'll start with the go-karts. Before you ride they tell you the rules, you get three warnings and you're done all night, & you're not aloud to hit other people while driving. Well, Me, my fiancé and 3 other family members were all repeatedly hit, spun out, slammed against the rails, you name it, by the same person driving. Don't know who he was, just another paying customer, but he never got 1 warning about SPINNING people out, and instead they were giving warnings to everyone who was being spun out instead. How is it our fault that someone cant follow the rules? We spent over 100 dollars to ride that night and after doing it twice we decided it wasn't worth racing there if the workers don't care about the rules they repeat to people all night. We never got our money back, and had to leave with tickets we paid for that we didn't want to use anymore. When we complained to the employees it just went in one ear and out the other...Literally. They looked at us like they always hear complaints. But they were absolutely no help at all. Im never going to waste my money there again, and its a shame. Maybe instead of ignoring your complaints, you should do something about it. If you see someone blatantly spinning people out, you need to enforce your rules, don't ignore them. I have bruises all over my back from that jackass who didn't get in trouble. This is outrageous and i wasn't even entitled to my money back after that terrible experience....
Read moreGood evening, I have to say I am very disappointed with our experience we had here Sunday afternoon. The two individuals working the go carts on Sunday around 1:30 were very rude & thought it was funny to laugh and humiliate a plus size visitor as they didn’t fit in the go-karts so they had to exit the track infront of other people waiting to race. It was mortifying to see two workers be so cruel and then on top of it sit on their cell phones while the cars are in the track racing ! Very disappointed as there were not paying attention to the people bashing into my child on purpose as it was her first time ever driving a go cart! This is supposed to be a family oriented establishment . We payed over 100.00 for a family of four to have unlimited attractions for 2 hours and 2-4 of the family members didn’t get to do anything as they were so upset they had to sit in the car after being embarrassed by your staff! We work hard for our money and are very upset we were not refunded after the experience we had ! The arcade games were not all working either , there was very limited things to do and also the bumper boats were not working either ! I would like to be contacted to discuss further and figure out a solution to this issue as we drove 4 1/2 hours here to spend time here as a family !
Also to the employee running the kids go carts, learn some patience as your sign says children 5-12, my five year old had never been on one of these and didn’t know what to do and was nervous and you got annoyed and had let her only go around the track one time and let another child bash right into her and then thought it was funny!...
Read moreI purchased family passes for my 4 and 12-year-old based on the website’s wording, which gave me the impression that my 4-year-old could participate in everything except the go-karts, and that my 12-year-old could enjoy all of the attractions. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the reality was very different.
My 4-year-old was only allowed to play miniature golf, none of the other attractions were an option for him. As for my 12-year-old, she was unable to ride a single go kart because riders must be at least 13 and 58” tall. She also couldn’t ride the kiddie karts because she was too tall, and the double karts weren’t an option either, since they are designed for a parent and small child, not a parent and preteen.
Had the website listed the height and age restrictions more clearly, I would have chosen not to purchase the family passes and saved the money. The way the attractions are advertised is misleading, especially for families with younger kids or preteens.
I strongly recommend that Calypso Cove update their website to clearly state both the height and age requirements for each ride, so families can make an informed decision before buying tickets.
Fortunately, they did grant me a refund for my...
