I booked a massage/facial special at hand stone a few weeks ago. They were running a special for 99$ for 1 hour massage and 1 hour facial. I'll start by saying my massage was great. Keito (?) was my massage therapist. Overall she was great, she super strong and is clearly a massage veteran. I would definitely reccomend her. After my massage I went in for my facial provided by tanya. Tanya was professional, kind, funny, easy to talk to, knowledgeable and comfortable to be around:) loved the facial thank you tanya. Few reasons why I'm not giving 5 stars; aesthetically, hand and stone is a lovely building and has an ok feel when you first walk in. Was pretty crowded and stuffy maybe because it was a Saturday and the day after valentine's day. I waited under 2 minutes for my massage therapist to get me and bring me back down a dimly lit hallway that had flower petals lining the sides of the hallway on the floor, which, in my opinion was super cheesy lol. No offense but could definitely do without the flower petals 😅 keito led me to my room where she explained. a few things and let me get undressed and onto the table. Again, it was a good massage. The only thing I didnt like was the tacky music that was a bit too loud. Secondly, when I finished my massage and facial I went to the front receptionist to pay. She was helpful and friendly but then proceeded to tell me my total was 140.00$ I was pretty confused because when I booked I specifically asked for the 99$ special they were running for new clients. I politely asked and she played it off and said my new total was 120.00 which, as you can understand, confused me again. I didnt even want to ask again because it frustrated me so I just paid it and left. Leaving I felt kind of ripped off. I'm not sure why they do that but it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth about the overall experience. Like I said my massage and facial were great. I just didnt like feeling ripped off by the front desk so I wont be going back. If you're looking for a quick and easy massage book here just be aware of what you're paying because they will try to get you to pay more for no...
Read more(This is my review for my most recent visit 12/29/2018 - one star). This was by far the WORST experience I have ever had at Hand and Stone. I actually left the place in pain after my massage from Rami. I originally was booked with Micky but she has transferred to another Hand and Stone location. No big deal, I don’t mind trying someone new and didn’t even mind it was a guy. But this service left me sore, in pain, and angry. I was taken back and my therapist didn’t start my massage until 11:08 and he concluded my massage by 11:54. That’s not even the full 50 minute massage! And he was jabbering during my massage after he found about where I worked and asked me to get him a job there. That is INCREDIBLY inappropriate. He said he understood I was in for a relaxation massage. I was wincing in pain AUDIBLY and he told me to BREATHE through it. WHAT??? I’m pulling away from you, not able to breathe because you’re applying so much pressure and I told you “ok that hurts” and you tell me to BREATHE THROUGH IT?!?!?! You’re kidding right? Nope, the rest of my massage he kept telling me about how he wants me to see him again for a deep tissue and how he hopes to hear from me to get him a job with my current employer. You think I’m going to get you a job with my company that is all about service but you can’t take VISUAL or AUDIO cues or direct feedback?!?!?! Needless to say, I wasn’t able to relax at all and felt like I was completely ripped off of my service. I’ve been coming here for a couple years now and have seen a couple therapists come and go. I hope the couple that I prefer never leave...otherwise I probably will too. I’m only giving one star because there is no other lower option for the therapist and the front desk is usually very nice.
(This review was from 2017 - five stars) Incredible! My masseuse was Jocelyn and she didn't make my experience rushed at all and was perfect on the pressure. Can't wait till...
Read moreI feel I must speak out and warn everyone, particularly women that I had an extremely unfortunate situation at Hand & Stone in Troy with a male massage therapist.
I had a massage with him the first time and had a very creepy experience with him inches from my face breathing on me. After that appointment I asked to not be booked with him again. I found other massage therapists in the interim that did a wonderful job and I was very happy.
Once massage places were able to open back up with covid-19, I went to book an appointment with my normal therapist and unfortunately she had to cancel and I asked for recommendations for another massage therapist so I could still get in. It was either never noted on my chart or the receptionist ignored the comment but I was booked with this gentleman again. Huge mistake number one. I was not aware it was him until I showed up. I should have gone with my gut and just said I don't feel comfortable and not move forward with my appointment.
Unfortunately I went against my better judgement. I will forgo the specifics but will note the massage therapist got an erection and rubbed it on my arms multiple time. I stopped the appointment and even confronted him and he could not answer me. It has taken all my strength to address this and come forward, I have PTSD from the experience.
After multiple conversations and investigations, I must sadly report that Hand & Stone is still employing him and he is working on females. The excuse is it was the massage bottle. I can tell you with all my heart that is not true.
I do not take this claim lightly and everyone who goes here should be cautious. I had two incidents with the same man and he still gets to work and carry on.
Think twice...
