I haven't been Toby since 2006 things have changed over the years I really don't like Island parkway it's beautiful to see the harbor and the different marinas and I stayed in White Marsh Island. I couldn't figure out what that smell was it wasn't too bad and smelled kind of sweet and stinky. I found out that it is the decaying plants in tthe water creates the bacteria from the marsh creates a sweet smell of rotting plants. I enjoyed it I stayed there for 9 days Long vacation. I needed to reset my biological clock I missed the ocean! But one thing I can say about a black woman is the racism towards us is still awful. No matter where I went and how nice I was people are still nasty if they owned anything it would be called Tybee Island. I didn't let that bother me when they came across me I will shut my eyes and give them no contact. Or just looked the other damn way. I remember going to the skyway State Park the lady at the desk the older woman with the glasses. I want to ask her for a map of the Park instead of giving me a map of the park she asked me was a camping I said I don't need a map I'm here for today and I paid for my $5 like everybody else she did not want to give me a map when they're free. Like I told her I'm 60 years old I don't need no directions I want a map please. That burnt her soul look just to give me a map when she give everybody else a park map. The state park is not always showing to be it's a bunch of riding trees swamp water quicksand water the park is not what it's all put out in the atmosphere. No bother to me I got out of my car and took a nice little stroll. But other than that I loved Tybee. Very thick skin... Then I went to this little Park in the mall district of Hilton Head Island South Carolina. It was really nice I have some pictures. Nicest park I've ever seen in the malls like district. The district of the rich Richie. Hilton Head Island was nice I really enjoyed their beautiful Wal-mart The parking lot is beautiful with all those Marsh trees and 🌴 trees everywhere. It was hard to see the skyline. I pray to God that people will change their ways and not be so ignorant and racist we are born equal just a different flavor...
Read moreAmazing views, beautiful spot to observe sunrise and sunset. For those who enjoy sunrise, just come here before it starts and park for free before paid parking time frame begins. There are not so many cars here at that time and views are truly breathtaking. We came Saturday morning and parked where we wanted. If you are planing to swim, just be very careful due to very strong currents at about 75-100 yards from the shoreline. You can already fill a cold current mixing with warmer water at 45 yards from the shore and that’s where rip current can pull you in. If that happens, just don’t loose control over your emotions and don’t get scared, move along the shore, not towards the shore because that’s how it will keep pulling you further down. You will slowly be getting out of the rip current and you will see how it changes from pulling you in to pushing you towards the shore. Stay calm and keep walking / moving. But best not to get that far at all, especially when signs are literally telling not to go any further into the water than 50 yards from the shore line. No pets allowed at the beach, so some people are upset about that. No walking on the dunes, no climbing on the rocks, no glass containers and so on. Just common sense rules like with all the beaches. Parking is $4 per hour but you can pay for minimum 2 hours. There are plenty of changing cabins, couple bathrooms and a couple of open public shower/wash stations for a quick shower and to rinse the sand off your body. They are located at the entrance/exit to the parking lot near the building. Overall we found this beach to be a very nice place to spend some time away from busy life and mortar of the city. There were couple of fishermen catching some fish. One caught a baby bull shark near where the large rocks end. He pulled it from about 100 yards from the shore line. There are bigger sharks there too as well as dolphins and stingrays and other fishes. You can see some jellyfish there too. Overall I would not let kids to go anywhere deep and wouldn’t go too deep myself as...
Read moreWe wanted to see the Tybee Island Lighthouse and spend a little time on the beach, and this was the perfect spot. We parked in between the lighthouse and North Beach, which made it so convenient to enjoy both. We didn’t go inside the Light Station & Museum, but we loved seeing the lighthouse up close and reading the historical signs outside—it was still a wonderful way to take in its history. From there, it was just a short walk to North Beach, which was beautiful and peaceful. Simply walking along the sand, listening to the sound of the waves, and taking in the view made the visit feel so relaxing. A great mix of history and natural beauty, all in...
