Awful experience here today. From our understanding, they usually open at 12pm, but today had a sign out saying that they were open to the public at 12:45 due to a private function that they were hosting. We walked in around 12:45 and grabbed a seat at the bar outside. The party they were hosting was late by 45 minutes, so they said that they arenât serving food to anybody else until that party was served. We werenât in any rush, so we decided to stay and thought weâd grab a couple of drinks while we waited for our turn to order food. About 45 minutes after we arrived, we tried to order food, but one of the bar staff said weâd have to wait to order because her coworker would be going around the bar taking food orders for everyone seated at the bar (basically they took orders clockwise around the bar). The issue we had was that we were sitting at the bar long before other people arrived at the bar, yet the bar staff was taking their orders first. While waiting to place our orders, we noticed that a couple people had left and new patrons sat down, and they had their food orders taken right away, meanwhile weâd been waiting for 45 minutes to an hour to place our food order. This irritated us and we decided that we no longer wanted any food from this place given how disorganized and careless they were. The bar staff came over and asked what we wanted for food and we said we just wanted the check. We explained how unimpressed we were with the whole situation and one of the bar staff explained that she hadnât yet placed the orders for all the other people sitting at the bar, yet we saw a couple of guys who were seated at the bar receive food. If this was their game plan to put in all the orders at once, Iâm glad we decided to leave because that method wouldâve bombarded the kitchen with orders, and probably wouldâve affected the quality of the food. We left and decided to stop at this place called Huc A Poos, which had a really cool atmosphere, an awesome server named Alex, and we shared a delicious pizza! Thank you to Huc A Poos for turning our frowns...
Read more1 of the places I had really enjoyed in the past. Haven't been to the island in the last few years and was very disappointed this time. The atmosphere use to be neighborhood, Bohemian now it's Caribbean, reggae. Didn't dislike it, but wasn't as comfortable. We were there when they opened and already they were out of plantains and pulled pork. We ordered salsa and chips, the "chips" were pita chips, (which were delicious) and blue corn chips, that were probably bought at a local store (they make a point of saying on the menu that all items are made in house) the pico-de-gallo was overwhelmingly under seasoned, all we tasted was tomato, it looked like canned diced tomatoes with a little diced cucumber thrown in. My companion ordered fried fish tacos, he got blacken fish tacos with very little fish and more of the bland pico. I had the fish, shrimp and chips which I enjoyed but could have had more seasoning. While we were there an elderly couple with a seeing eye dog became confused and sat at the wrong table. 1 of the employees was very rude and disrespectful to them. Another employee did intervene and get them reseated. Not sure how I feel about the crows coming in and eating leftover food off the tables, on one hand it was unsanitary, on the other I was fascinated by their boldness and skill. No the employees did not seemed phased by or try to shew them away (we sat inside near the bar). As others stated in reviews the flys are a problem, but you are eating semi outside. On a positive note, I applaud the restaurant for the upgrades, installing a cover to keep you out of the sun and hiring...
Read moreThis is the worst restaurant I had ever tried in Savannah GA (Tybee island). I have been living there for 2 years and before move to NC I wanted have a good farewell and remember like a nice town. I went with my friend. The guy brought two menu and he put in the center of the table. Never gave one to my friend and one to me. No manners and how to be kind with the clients. I went with my friend to eat something and we requested from the menu "plantain with salsa". The picture in the menu show yellow plantains (this mean the plantain is no ripe) and a side salsa. When he gave us the dish never look like the picture. He brought SWEET PLANTAIN (this mean the plantain is ripe) covered with honey and chop onion and tomatoes. The tomatoes was spoiled (this mean over ripe). I explained him the difference between plantain and sweet plantain. He didn't worry about this. His behavior was negative. The other waiter (the guy with the curly hair) was nice and offer return the plate. Finally we decide let the restaurant and paid the lemonade and the sweet tea and paid the "plantains" that we never ate. The total was $11.20. I gave the guy $20.00. He took it and told me, "is all." He wanted retain the change like tip...no no no.....where was the good service and behavior? I had to tell him, "the change please." This kind of waiter and the restaurant administration don't care about have good manners and how keep a good service with the clients. This is a bad restaurant that give bad reputation to Tybee island area. Zero...
