This place is so wonderful! Don't let the fact that it's next to a gas station deter you from trying it out. My family was in Tybee last weekend and I chose this place as our last dinner based on the glowing reviews. Parking was easy because they have a lot right there. When we entered, we were immediately greeted by the friendly workers. My daughter chose to sit outside in their little fenced in patio, which turned out to be perfect for anyone with kids. In that same area, they have a firepit, a bar, and a few games to keep you entertained. Our server (I think her name was Jess?) was excellent! She was really great at anticipating what we needed before we even thought of asking (like getting our kid's food out first so she wouldn't get grumpy, ketchup for the fries, etc). I loved the caprese mozzarella and fish and chips, but I wish I had two stomachs so I would have had room for the Scotch eggs or one of the mac & cheese bowls. If you want a cocktail, I highly recommend the Kelpie. It tastes just as great as it looks. Oh and we finished the meal with their bread pudding, which was SO GOOD, especially with the caramel sauce.
Honestly, I wish that I had learned about this pub earlier in our trip so we could have gone more than once and I could have tried more of the menu. I'll definitely have to come here again the next time...
Read moreSince the Kelpie on Tybee Island has had their soft opening, I have been back multiple times. The food is absolutely unique and amazing. Never before have I been to a restaurant where I truly wanted to....no...absolutely HAD to try everything on the menu! There is just something different about this place. The atmosphere is classy, but relaxed. The staff is personable and inviting. The owner is a renowned chef in the area, and it is definitely evident why he has built his reputation. I keep raving about the food, but the signature cocktails are in a league of their own as well. The Kelpie Cocktail is a fun drink and delicious, the Bramble has a unique flavor, he Espresso Martini is like dessert in a glass. My most favorite of all is the Mamie Taylor. To me, it's like a unique scotch mule. Of course, they have a full bar with an experienced bar staff, so if you have your go-to favorites, they can make those properly as well. Sorry for the long review, but there are just so many good things to say about the Kelpie on Tybee. Just go check it out for yourself and...
Read moreI overheard a couple talking about how awesome this place was so we had to check it out. This place is so great we've been back a couple times already, lol. All the food we've had is amazing! And the atmosphere is laid back and social. Grab a table inside or out (outside is pretty cool), sit at a bar table or at the bar. Doesn't get much better. You absolutely have to start with the scotch eggs. Dab some of their house sauce on it and you'll be ordering another round! And you can buy the sauce and you should. For entrees I don't even know where to start. Fish n chips, bangers and mash, any of the versions of Mac n cheese or any sandwiches, etc, etc. It was all fantastic. Same story with drinks. Their tap and bottle selection is top notch, and their cocktails are unique but outstanding. Try the Bramble even if you don't like gin. And I highly recommend you top your meal off with the bread pudding. ...
