We have booked homes and condos with Stacye and her staff for over 10 years. Multiple times per year, summer, Christmas, and any chance we get anytime of the year. Never had a single "bad" experience. They are nice people and the rentals are ALWAYS clean, and beautiful. They are professional and personal at the same time. We are always impressed. Thanks Stacye and staff. See you soon!
The following is a cautionary tale in vacation rentals!
We have stayed with this rental agency for years. Most recently, we enjoyed Pelican Point. As always, the condo was lovely and our stay was trouble free! I wanted to tell you a little story about a trip we took in summer 2009.... After years of happy vacations with you, in an attempt to save money- we cheated on you, and booked a house with one of the "rent from the owner" websites. When we arrived, we were met in the driveway by the owner and her friend, both wearing bikini's. My husband, my dad, and my brother-in-law were quite amused. Myself, my mother and my sister were not. She proceeded to give us a tour of all the things in the house that DID NOT work- the oven, the icemaker, the shower door, and so on. She had just finished cutting the grass, and the pool was covered in yard debris. The house was in serious need of a good cleaning, as it was covered in pet hair and dirt. The garage was full of their coolers, ATV's and boating items- which left no room for our cars! The gas grill was out of gas- but she was kind enough to tell us where the store was down the street so we could go get a new tank and some bags of ice- all at our own expense! The refrigerator and freezer had their food in it- we had to move it to make room for ours. The master bath was filled with their personal items- including a USED RAZOR in the shower! The closets in 2 of the guest bedrooms were filled with paint cans, pieces of wood and broken shelves- which left no room for our clothes! While we were there for the week, we had 2 appliance repairmen (who did not fix anything) and a landscape man show up, unannounced, one of them even asked us to help him move the stove and sign for the bill- I declined! I tried to reach the owner, but she did not answer her phone! After leaving her several messages, she finally paid us another visit- wearing clothes this time- to cut the grass again- and bring us a new toaster- it was also broken. About half the light bulbs in the house were burnt out- we would have been happy to replace them but they were in the 12ft ceiling fixtures. Many of the items listed on their website were either not working or just not there at all. It took me 2 months, and an angry letter to the website to get our $500 deposit back. Other than that, it was great!
Let me say it was quite an experience. We will not be using the "rent by owner" site for future vacations. To top it all off- we really did not save any money! Lesson learned.
Thanks for everything- we will see you again as soon as we can The Johnson- Scott- Evans...
Read morePLEASE READ!!!! My mother and I were going for a beach trip to Tybee Island, we went through Oceanfront Cottage Rentals, and stayed at the Desoto condominiums. We were SUPPOSED to be there for THREE nights (Saturday- Tuesday morning). BUT they "accidentally" CANCELED our Monday stay so we had to leave on Monday at 10 am. They didn't care at all that they did that. They said "better find somewhere else". They didn't EVEN try to make it better, give us a later check out time, let us rent the same condo for another night, or even let us pack up all of our stuff and rent another condo here for one more night. They literally did NOTHING! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Anyway, we got in late arriving and had to go to the Oceanfront Cottages Rentals office which was fine. I opened up the envelope they left in the box for us- it contained directions on how to get to the condo from the office, a LIST of CLEANING you have to do before you take off and a contract to be signed and be dropped back off the next day. The parking spaces are VERY small and there is minimal parking- if you don't park in your designated space you WILL BE TOWED. Also, if you want guess to come over , they all better come in one car considering thats all the "extra" parking your allowed. Make sure they have a parking pass hanging on their car or they WILL BE TOWED. Oh yes, I forgot to mention, the garage door opener only works sometimes. We got locked out for a good 15 minutes. Next, they give you no directions on which keys are for what. Theres 3 keys, one for the outside of the elevator, the inside of the elevator, and I have no idea what the third one is even for. That was great trying to figure out when the elevator will only stay open for a minute and a half before it SHUTS DOWN FOR 30 MNUTES! Before you leave you have to A. Do the dishes. B. Take the trash out. C. put the towels and sheets in the washer. For how much this place coast they should be doing that. Especially since you PAY a fee for maids to come clean. They have really weird rules about having the lights on inside when its dark. Hopefully you like the dark. If you accidentally forget something you have to PAY a 35$ CONVENIENT FEE AS WELL AS SHIPPING!!!! The remote to the TVs do not work and if you take one on ACCIDENT they will charge you! The room numbers are confusing; room numbers starting in "2" for example "209" is on the THIRD level. AND they don't have the room number written inside the condo. We thought we were in the wrong place, we decided to call the office for help ( they have an after hours number to call ) they didn't answer. Luckily we found our condo number written in a book in a drawer. Keep in mind, they CANCELED our stay here. I have heard of this happening BEFORE!!! I really hope this helps!!...
Read moreMy family rented a property from December 23 thru December 27, 2016(20 Oceanview). The property was beautiful, however, we experienced some problems upon arrival, some of which continued through our stay. Upon arrival the elevator, which was a necessity due to my Mom who is 90 having difficulty with stairs. It was fixed within an hour or so. Also, after 2-3 hours, it was discovered that the refrigerator/freezer was not working. This was a major problem because we had brought both refrigerated and frozen items for Christmas dinner. It was took a while for a replacement to be received. It was small with no ice maker, but we managed. Other things that were shown in property that did not work were the independent ice maker and wine cooler. This resulted in us having to purchase ice during our entire stay. Property shown to sleep 13, however, there were only 5 coffee mugs and 8 forks. Although, not important since it was not summer, two car garage only held 1, due to construction materials. Upon checkout I discussed these problems with Oceanfront and expressed that at over $500. a night, we felt some consideration should be given to our rental price or a future rental. We rented through Oceanfront in 2015 and had no problems. At the end of January 2017, I wrote a letter expressing that I was disappointed that we had not heard anything regarding our problems during our stay. We strongly felt that if they rental had been properly checked and prepared for our stay, we would not have had any of the problems we had to deal with. However, I am most disappointed because I have received no response at all to my letter. As stated previously, the property was beautiful, but our rental experience with Oceanfront was disappointing. I am only placing this review because of receiving no response of any type...
