Over the last 3 weeks I have been in here three times twice this week, without making the intended purchase. The first time I went in a man at the gun counter said he was sorry that I liked Glocks, he would not show me a Glock instead he got the Honor Guard Pistol out to show me. He did get a shield out for me to hold but did not tell me about the special going on of the $75 rebate. He also would not discuss the 40 beyond that it is no longer a needed caliber. He acted as if I was inferior to him end of lesser intelligence. This representative of Cabela's told me that I could only shoot in self-defense if the person was closer than 19 feet and was shooting at me and thus I would only need a 9 mm and not a 40. This representative of the store turned me off to buying here in Yakima even though I have previously had good experiences at this store (3 ish years ago). I grew up loving Cabelas and looking forward to going to Cabela's as the other Cabela's have always been extremely congenial. I was not planning on returning to Cabela's but then I figured maybe this person was having a rough day and the I would not completely right Cabelas off yet. I went back to the Yakima Cabelas Monday and was assisted by a couple other representatives the one was slightly less knowledgeable about the guns yet had better customer service skills the second one took over and had more knowledge about the guns and was kind. I asked about the special on the Shield it was explained how the special worked with their pricing. I wanted to think about the purchase before making a purchase so I went home for the day. The next day I went back to purchase the Shield I waited along with some others for customer service at the gun counter after several minutes a lady came and helped another man and then disappeared. The representative that was rude the first time was there but acting like he was to busy to help me, he then helped a couple of other customers and made a couple of phone calls but he was also rude to them (in person and on the phone). I also on two of these trips saw associates standing around talking and not providing costumer service. I get treated better at Walmart which saddens me as Cabela's was previously my favorite store in the world!.
I have tried to contact management but only reach a voicemail.
I will be driving to Spokane to purchase a gun from Sharp Shotting as there phone costumer service was above and beyond what I expected...
Read moreCustomer service not that great. Left standing around waiting for help every time I go to their store. Slow and late on opening the doors in the morning. I was standing at the doors in a rush to make a badly needed purchase for a job I was late and running behind on. The store manager and her crew were standing 15 feet inside chatting it up while I stood there waiting for them to open. While I obviously was holding my cell phone up looking at the time so they could easily see what I was doing. Not to mention there were other customers waiting in the parking lot and walking up to the doors expecting them to be opened. They all looked over and saw me standing there as I had grabbed the door and tried to open it numerous times. Finally 9:00 rolls around and their "STILL" standing there chatting it up with the manager. Finally a couple of minutes after 9 am they break their huddle and still no one is opening the doors. Finally at 4 minutes after a woman meanders out and unlocks the doors. This may seem petty... but when your already running late it is "NOT" pleasant to sit and wait on others to get the act together. I hate going to this store and will only do so when I have exhausted all my other options. In the past, stores of impeccable quality and customer service will open the doors early if they see customers outside their doors in need of getting in ASAP. On another occasion a few months prior I was in trying to make a purchase and could not get any help (as usual). However, there were two employees over in the next isle (1 male and 1 female). She was doing her job stocking, while he was busy flirting and doing his best to win her over like a dog in heat. I finally had to go over and throw some cold water on them (just a metaphor) and interrupt them and request some service. I guess the employees must have been in the rut and in heat (mating season). Their slogan should be "The Cabela Social Club where employees...
Read moreMy fiancé went to our local Cabela’s here in Union Gap, WA to purchase a shotgun for a Christmas present. After standing at the gun counter for at least fifteen minutes she was finally acknowledged. After telling the guy what she was looking for the employee behind the counter could not find what she wanted. She asked if she could order the shotgun and the employee was very rude in the process. She stated that she wanted to pay in cash as to not have the transaction show up on a credit card statement. Once again she received a rude response, an eye roll and was told to go see customer service. Unfortunately, her experience with customer service was not any better. She explained her situation and was told she would have to put the cash on a gift card and then use it to purchase the firearm. After politely asking a few more questions the customer service representative snapped at her and told her she could leave if she wanted and could go purchase the firearm somewhere else if she didn’t like it. Even more disturbing was that the manager who happened to be standing right behind the customer service representative did absolutely nothing. Very disappointing on many levels and I did not learn of this story until after she gave me the shot gun for Christmas, which she ended up purchasing from a local gun shop. I would not have spent anymore money here this holiday season had I known this. I have been a loyal Cabela’s customer for a very long time, but I gotta say since bass pro bought them out, this company is starting to tank. What used to be reasonably priced outstanding products with second to none customer service has turned into expensive junk with no accountability. If you want a good experience, go to sportsman’s warehouse or go online to Mack’s prairie wings or Rodgers sporting goods. Way better prices and ten times the...
