To Whom It May Concern, Visited the Wayne NJ AMC to see “ IF”. For the entire film there was an extremely loud and disruptive family seated in the D- row. At no point did an usher from the movie come in to assure that it was a pleasant viewing experience for the families and during the visit the children with the party in that row were stomping, running through the theatre with no shoes on and talking out loud through the film. I attempted to speak with the supposed manager. She stated her name was “Fannelly/Vianelly” I was unsure of the spelling. Mind you she had no name tag to begin with to identify her name or title. I asked who’s responsiblity it was to ensure no disruptive movie goers were in the theatres. She scoffed, rolled her eyes and responded by asking if anyone from the theater came to ask for assistance. When I advised her that most of the families were just as upset as I was and there was no way for me to confirm if anyone else had complained. Her response was simply that neither she or any of the staff on site could address the situation unless they were alerted. And even though I explained the entire situation she said that it was not an issue they would be available to deal with “ because we are busy taking care of the all of this” while pointing around the entrance of the theatre. Now I don’t usually make a point to email anything after my visits because I’ve been an AMC stubs member and avid movie goer for roughly 10 years. When I do purchase tickets I do so for a family of 6. Meaning I spend over $100 per visit, in the past year alone I’ve spent at least $1500 on seeing movies at AMC. While that may not be much in the eyes of some it’s quite an investment when renting a movie via streaming service would cost me just $200 for the same number of movies. It’s ridiculous that after spending hard earned income in an establishment and seeking assistance what I received was a condescending response and An “oh well ” attitude from what seemed to be a 20-something young lady who (in my opinion after having managed teams for roughly 8 years) could care less about what I had to say. She handed me a cardboard card with a QR code for guest services, rolled her eyes and was more annoyed that I interrupted her conversation at the front entrance with her friends than she was interested in actually providing any actual customer service. If you’re going to name someone a manager they should be a person who embodies compassion, good communication skills and respects the value of providing good experiences to returning customers. This was one of the worst movie going experiences I have ever had. In all the time I’ve gone to your movie theatres I’ve never been so disappointed with the theatre experience and the complete lack of any kind of empathy for the fact that $100 represents roughly 3 hours of me working so I can pay to take my family to see a nice movie together. The young lady who spoke to me should be embarrassed to have treated a patron in such poor fashion. Disappointed in...
Read moreWent to see The Marvels in Real 3D in Theater 8. My mom and I were the only people in the theater for the afternoon show. We usually sit in the last row (handicap accessible) to accommodate my moms limited mobility. The reclining buttons in our selected seats didn’t work. I checked the next pair of handicapped seats, and the next, and the next, and it turned out that none of the seats in that row worked at all. Since no one else was there, I helped my mom down the step to the next row of seats.
We’ve had similar non-functioning mobile-accessible seats in other theaters at this AMC. It seems like the recliners get moved around and the staff doesn’t check if they are plugged in.
Then there was a problem with the 3D. Oddly, the Real 3D glasses had no effect on what we were seeing. The issue was apparent as soon as the previews began. I went out to the cashier to report the problem.
The 3D was still blurry when the movie started, so I called AMC from within the theater to report the problem again. The woman who answered the phone was the same one I originally reported the problem to. She said that someone had fixed it, but I assured her that they didn’t. Another 30 minutes went by and we were still watching a blurry movie, so I called again. This time a different person answered the phone and explained that they couldn’t fix the problem, si they were going to change the movie to 2D.
A little while later, the movie abruptly stopped and we could see that someone was adjusting the lens on the projector. They made a few more adjustments when the movie started back up again and we were finally able to see the picture clearly.
A short time later, an employee came into the theater to apologize and gave us complimentary passes to return again.
This is, and will likely remain, my go-to movie theater. I’ve probably seen more than 100 movies here over the years. I do like this AMC, and would normally give a 5-star rating, but this particular visit was annoying.
I would have given a 1-star rating, but my 4-star rating is a compliment to the limited staff on duty since they were friendly, very apologetic, and seemed genuinely concerned for our...
Read moreUpdate on 05/05/19: Since my last review, the whole movie theater was refurbished. Entire theater is reserved seating with each auditorium having heated recliners. Every two recliners are paired so the armrest can be set in an up position and couples can snuggle together or kids can seat comfortably & closely with their parents or one another. Everything is always clean including the bathrooms, so the refurbishment was well worth the wait.
Sound in each auditorium is phenomenal and the picture quality is also great, with se auditorums offering higher quality sound and picture for a slightly higher ticket price. Note of you buy tickets for showings before 12pm on any day the tickets are only $5.49 each. Great for taking out the family or friends and then heading to lunch afterwards.
Only gripe is with the parking lot and exterior. Still needs some work due to potholes and the entrance looking like it needs some paint and or power washing. Be careful parking towards the rear of the parking lot since the river sometimes floods during strong rains and you may be in for a bad surprise if you park too close to it. Recommend parking next to the building towards the rest of the other stores in the small retail area next door. Much safer and you can watch your movie peacefully with no potential flooding concerns. Overall, much more of an improvement and strongly recommend trying out this location. Hope this update helps!
Prior review: Quiet location with a cozy feel. Staff is friendly. Chairs are not the most comfortable as they're a bit old, but not necessarily uncomfortable. Decent sound system and games for the kids available. Would recommend for a quiet night in a theater that's not excessively crowded, even on...
