Sine Qua Non Salon — Attraction in West Chicago Township

I expected so much more from such an established and expensive salon and left in tears. I came in for a cut and face framing minimal balayage. I spent $240 for my hair to look untouched in the end. My stylist was very kind but seemed nervous throughout the process and made several mistakes. I felt my stylist was trying to convince me that everything was ok and looking great constantly but it only made me feel more anxious. I was told I'd be checked up on in 20 minutes while waiting for my hair to process but it was closer to 45+. I then had to go back to the sink as there was a bright blonde section that was not toned that was found after washing once I was back in the chair. After blowdrying it seemed like my stylist had forgotten to cleanup my layers. The cut process seemed strange and quick, and the placement of the round brush during blowdrying felt awkward. The cut was fine, the blowout was underwhelming and there was no true sign of any changed color. I understand mistakes can happen, but the price on top of the total service time was ridiculous. I was in the salon for 3 hours for a process that shouldn't have taken that long. Extremely overpriced for such an underwhelming and anxiety ridden experience. DISCLAIMER: rewriting this comment as I’m assuming it was deleted by the owner. Very disappointing to see a lack of accountability. Anyway I went to a hair appointment today to get a hair cut. However I was very disappointed with the turn out. I showed the hair stylist what I wanted and she did not give me that at all. That is not even the worst of it. The hair stylist had slashed my ear at the beginning of my hair cut and I was bleeding a lot. She dismissed my pain and slapped a bandaid on it. When I got home my bandaid was soaked with blood. So not only did I not get what I wanted I also came out of the establishment with an injury. I was charged full price and received no compensation for the gash on my ear. I originally came here since I knew some family who had went. Although after talking to them about what had happened with my hair cut they told me they also had bad experiences. The stylist don’t care to see what you ask for and just do what they want. Beware as the stylist here don’t know how to use their tools. My stylist used a razor and cut my ear, clearly they are not trained for this kind of work. I will not be coming here again. I advise to avoid this establishment, especially since they do not own up to their actions. I will be saving this comment so if it is deleted again I will be reposting. I didn’t actually get anything done here but came in for a consultation. I ruined my hair. I had it bleached already and had it blue, purple and green before coming in. I had taken out all the color and decided to bleach my roots and dye it pink. The result was orange roots with dark brown patches, gold, pink and almost white hair. (I wasn’t the one who originally bleached my hair and shouldn’t have done it myself. Lesson learned).

During my consultation the stylist did tell me it was bad, something I already knew. She suggested I go back to a dark root and keep it to a dark color going down. I agreed. She then told me she would need 4 hours and that would be charged by the hour. I said I was ok with it. She then told me she just needed to make sure they would have enough product to apply to my hair and that’s where it gets expensive. The moment she said that I felt like she thought I didn’t have enough money to pay for it. After that I was very polite and thanked her and walked out. (I do have manners)

I came today to my moms stylist (10+ years). I was skeptical at first bc I didn’t think he would understand how I wanted my hair. I went in expecting to be there for 4+ hours (got out 3 hours early from work) and dish out $500+. He fixed my hair in 1 1/2 hours and charged me less than half of what I thought it would be.
