🌳😎Skinner (Mark) Park – Chicago, IL
Skinner Park is such a gem in the West Loop! It’s spacious, clean, and full of activities for all ages. The children’s playground is absolutely fantastic, with a wide variety of equipment for infants, toddlers, and older kids. Swings, slides, sandpits—you name it! There’s even a cool dragon sculpture that kids love to climb on.
What I love most is how versatile the park is. There are plenty of trees that offer shade and double as cozy spots for gatherings or birthday parties. The open fields are great for casual games or relaxing on the grass, and the park also features baseball, basketball, and tennis courts—with bleachers too!
Plus, it’s pet-friendly—there’s a dedicated dog park which is a huge bonus for dog owners.
Overall, it’s a perfect community space to play, chill, or get active. Definitely a five-star spot in the heart...
Read moreThis is a fantastic park. It has lots of fields (perfect for soccer). There’s a basketball court and a baseball field. Unsure about softball. AND, the best playground since sliced bread (FYI: Betty White is older than sliced bread. Truth.). The playground has multiple features to play on, many of the standards with a few nice surprises. Next to the playground is a small wildlife center/nature conservatory to be enjoyed by young toddlers and adults alike (but no Denisovan permitted). The wildlife center contains things found in nature, and, nature found in things (Don’t worry, no Panthers). For those worried about peeing their pants (as I am), worry not. You Can excrete waste quite comfortably in the small, heated, square clubhouse, which looks like a repurposed Dairy Queen. It’s also worth noting that the view of downtown...
Read moreThis park is one of my favorite parks. It is fairly large and has multiple types of activities going on at any given time.
The park has a children play area. It has that bouncy rubbery surface to keep kids safe or maybe it is to give them extra bounce in their play. I don't have a kid, so not really sure. It is fun to walk and run on.
There are a couple fields where I see children's soccer being played.
The park also has a couple softball fields.
Even if you aren't there to play a sport there are areas to walk around and watch people enjoying being outside. Our dog loves to sniff around this park and look for animals.
The park is clean and well taken care of. There are benches if you'd just like to sit down and read a book or take in the view.
