This is the customer service desk at Walmart in Exton PA. I purchased a heating pad a week ago and was returning it for a refund. I had not used it, had it in the original box, in the original Walmart gray plastic shopping bag. However, I didn't have the receipt (I've returned items before without a receipt, with no problems). So I get to this Walmart around 10:30 am on 11/18/2022, and get in a line of 7 people at the customer service desk. There are 3 customer service people, as shown in this picture, a woman on the left, a man on the right, and a woman, with her back to us, doing something. First thing I see is when the woman on the left is finished with a customer, her way of signaling the next person in line is to NOD at the next person to proceed to her station. She does this with a very obvious 'air' about her. Now when the customer service man signals for the next in line, he actually waves, without any 'airs' while the woman with her back to the proceedings, well she never turns around for anything. So be it. So I'm lucky to get the man on the right when it's my turn. I approach his desk, put my bag on the counter and tell him that I want to return the item. Now here's when things go off track... He takes the heating pad box out of the Walmart bag, and asks if I have the receipt which I reply that, no, I did not. Now get ready for this one, shoppers. The largest company in the entire world, which I have bought from for YEARS, has a customer service desk rep tell me, 'YOU NEED THE RECEIPT IN ORDER TO GET A REFUND'. Now, as I've just stated, I've returned items before to Walmart in the past - without a receipt - and have never been told that I couldn't get a refund without a receipt. I look this man in the eyes and say, 'I've returned items to this particular Walmart in the past, without a receipt, even without a bag, and have ALWAYS gotten a refund!! So he asks me how I paid for this return and I tell him with my credit card. So he then says' well I can't give you cash back, but I can only give you a credit to your card' at which point I reply 'I didn't ask for cash'. So I put my credit card into the 'reader' and get my credit for $29.84. For, BTW, a small heating pad, which I was returning because the exact same item was available on Amazon for HALF THE PRICE!!!!! So very long story short, I signed the receipt, got my copy, looked the 'nice man turned rude man' in the eyes and said, 'you know, your attitude is all wrong for the position you are in. You are a customer service representative. Do you even understand what that term means? Apparently you do not'. So I thought quickly about looking for the store manager, but decided to just get out of there. 'Cut my losses, so to speak'. I didn't get the name of the RUDE man. And have just now, 4 days later, gotten the credit to my credit card. Moral to this story? YOU GET WHAT YOU...
Read moreAfter many fantastic experiences at another athleta, I was excited to have one closer to my home. I se t many friends to Exton location, even before I stopped in and ALL had similar horrible experiences. I had to see for myself. They were right. Staff give you a glare when you walk in, not a hello, not a semblance of customer service. I asked one girl about the colors in a Brooklyn pant and she said there wasn’t just what I had in my hand. Well on the table next to where she was standing there was the exact color I was asking about. The staff don’t know the product and let’s be real there isn’t a huge amount of styles to memorize. Then the girl checking me out never even said a word to me nor gave eye contact then grabbed the clothes and shoved them into a bag. Never folded a thing and when I said something about not folding them her response was “they were already kinda folded and rolled her eyes.” OMG.
When I turned to leave after spending $400 I decided to turned around and go back to speak to a manager bc I realized this is NOT the athleta I know and all the people I sent to shop there had bad experiences as well.
When I turned around and walked back Roth he cashwrap the associate was telling her manager ( which she identified herself as) and they were clearly making fun of the fact I asked for the clothes to be folded. I surprised them both when I walked up to them mid sentence and when I asked “is this how you treat customers when they ask their expensive purchase though it should t matter of it’s one item) not be crumpled and shoved into a bag and her, the managers response was “ we have only been here a month.” And I said “ yes but the company hasn’t and I have always had an amazing experience e in glen mills athleta.” Her response was to smirk and say “I guess we can do something.” To that I said “no it’s your culture here and I will gladly drive back to glen mills as will everyone i sent here and let the company know it’s this team NOT the brand.” Shop in glen mills or online and save yourself the bad vibes of this store. Athleta your brand and clothes are amazing your Exton...
