My husband and I use to love coming to this particular thrift store. We've found great items and love the record and book section. Employees are always cheerful and the store is always clean. However, for the past year, it's seems to have gone downhill completely. What use to be a variation of great selection has diminished. I'm not sure if this is due to inflation, economy ect...but shopping here awhile ago I had an interaction with a manager? that gave me a much closer look into the "why?" I wanted to purchase an item that did not get tagged or, the tag was missing. Upon reaching the cashier to pay, cashier called the manager for a price. The woman walked over, looked over the item and without addressing myself or the cashier, preceeded to whisper to another employee standing by for about 2 minutes. Eventually, before walking away and still not addressing myself or the cashier, snapped the amount and took off. This bizarre and unprofessional experience cemented my desire to never return if by spending money here would be accompanied by insult. There was also a great woman who use to run the jewelry counter here. Tons of selection, perfectly organized and neatly displayed..she made you feel as if though you were shopping at Harry Winston..she is gone and the jewelry counter is abysmal. What...
Read moreI took a chance to shop today Friday May 24 at this VOA in Westland, this was my first time at this thrift store, after today's shopping though I probably won't return. Browsing through the men's shorts section their was a very disgruntled employee that was verbally saying very loud "There’s eight racks that I have to work on, and this manager of ours has new employees just standing around up in the front" she went on and on for a good ten minutes and honestly if she doesn't enjoy her job instead of making sure she was being heard by those shopping then QUIT YOUR JOB!!! or talk to your store manager instead of voicing how upset you are about doing what I guess is YOUR JOB!!! I and other shopper's couldn't believe that she just wouldn't SHUT UP!!! I waited and followed her because I wanted to see if by chance she was wearing some kind of name tag, and sure enough she was, the name on her name tag was Lindsy... Employee Lindsy you made my and other shopper's very uncomfortable that we had to hear you being upset that YOU HAD TO WORK!!! If you're unhappy with your job, my suggestion is QUIT so other shopper's don't have to hear you complain. VOA, do better, shopper's are shopping and I personally will not be returning to this...
Read moreI love this store. I love the sales but the people working here at night are extremely rude. Maria the manager screams at you to get out of the store at 8:40pm, after she just said to be up to the register by 8:50pm.. I don’t appreciate being talked about with other coworkers either, not very manager like. This is the 3rd time she has been rude for no reason at all. I gave her a pass the first two times, thinking she must of had a bad day, but obviously this is just her character, rude and mean. She must hate her job. May she be blessed with peace and joy because she obviously doesn’t have that. Maybe she could get a job where she’s not working in customer service because it’s one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a retail store.
EDIT: Anita the store manager said she will be having a talk with her and that we are allowed to be in the store until 9pm. I appreciate her resolving...
