UPDATE: This location DOES NOT OFFER CURBSIDE SHOPPING ... The TOANO FOOD LION AND THE FOOD LION OFF JOHN TYLER HWY/199 offer CURBSIDE SHOPPING ... ALL still require MASK (PLEASE) ... ...This is my favorite Food Lion ... Maybe it's because I have been shopping there (on/off) since I moved to Colonial Williamsburg in the early 90's ... My sister and her husband moved here in the late 80's and they always shopped there ... I worked at CW and Sal's ... Always shopped here ... SO MANY CHANGES throughout Williamsburg ... TOO MUCH DEVELOPMENT AND LOSS OF GREEN AREAS ... Alas ... Food Lion is in the same place and it's nice 2 go 2 a store where they recognize you as a regular shopper ... I know where everything is ... It's not so big that it takes you an hour to walk from one end of the store to the other ... I cannot find anything to complain about ... truly ... Everyone wears masks ... It's neat and clean ... Pretty busy most of the time ... Restrooms are right in front door to your left of the store in the corner past the Customer Service desk and Self Checkout Registers ... The baskets are cleaned by clerk outside front doors ... Huge Parking Lot ... In end spot within a row of other stores ... Sal's Italian Restaurant tucked in corner spot 3 minute walk from Food Lion ... Good FRIED CHICKEN at Food Lion too ... Clerks and Cashiers have always been pleasant ... Some employees have been there MANY YEARS ... Donnie stocks the shelves and he has been there years !!! They all work hard ... They had a hard time keeping the toilet tissue and paper towels stocked but all seems pretty much back to normal now ... I am so grateful to have a grocery store that has maintained keeping Open even during the worst times dealing with this horrific virus ... No store is perfect nor are there perfect workers anywhere ... I suggest calling them if you are looking for a specific food item ... Food very...
Read moreJust left, and just watched manager ( especially marked with different shirt,) look up to see more than five (5) separate paying customers in the ONLY line open, and yet he continues to run back and forth from the soft drink isle to stock the soft drink machines up front. Note, while I've seen five (5) persons working up front, besides the manager, all manning one (1) open self checkout stand. One of the employees wasn't notable in a blue Food Lion shirt, or a manager of Food Lion shirt, he was just wearing a black Nike shirt. Of course I guess he could have been an employee of Nike, and just a friend of a staffed Food Lion employee, but that would be another major insurance issue. My intention here was not to state one bad instant I had (and it hasn't been just one...,) but yet to hope the senior executives in the Food Lion corporate office in North Carolina and the local branch managers see this and set guidelines for future instances such as what I have witness again, but...
Read moreMy cart was full of heavy bulky items, cases of water, soap powders and toilet paper among other things. 2 employees up front talking with backs to registers. Only self check outs had lights on. I waited until they turned around , but before I could speak I was told with a hand gesture "only the self check outs are open." This lady looked like maybe the manager n she turned back around. The other young lady stepped closed to me, I told her I had this cart full of these large items and would have to put them back because its too hard and cumbersome for me to try to do the self check out alone. She was kind enough to do it, but the other lady took off so as not to come in contact with me as I left. From the beginning she seemed uninterested in helping me at all Do these people realize the custimer satisfaction keeps them in jobs? I like give business to the old grocery stores in town, but meeting with this makes the higher end stores look even...
