To the best of my belief and understanding, The Williamsburg Area Transit Authority discriminates against certified Disadvantaged Business Entities (DBE) including women owned, veterans owned, and minority owned, companies. The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation's own appointed Director to The Williamsburg Area Transit Authority (WATA) board for 2020 was also WATA's board chairman while this discrimination went on. I cannot support an organization who's staff supports discrimination of this type. This foundation employee still serves on the board of WATA.

Truly a National Treasure worth visiting! They do offer a discount for residents of Williamsburg, though they do not extend that to neighboring counties, or state residents for that matter. (That's a shame.) They did not offer a military/veteran discount either. (That too is a shame.) We had a GREAT time on our Haunted Williamsburg tour, which took us inside the Wythe House, a side room at the Governor's Palace, and the Geddy House. Not sure if they use different homes year to year, but that would definitely keep it fresh and draw repeat business.

Very beautiful old town. Great restaurants, lots of parking, great job of revitalized architecture and planning. There are a lot of historical notes all over explains day to day life of 1700s colonialists.

This is actually the MATTHEW WHALEY SCHOOL that is right next to COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG HISTORIC AREA ... I visit the lovely wee garden that is part of the School ... It is called "Mattey's Garden" ... It has a covered area with picnic benches that you can relax on and tour this "children's garden" that the School utilizes as a TEACHING TOOL for the students ... It is always changing and even thus ole lady learns from it ... When the flowers and plants are in full bloom there are a MILLION POLLINATORS ... I have a million photos I have taken if this Garden since my move back here in Aug 2012 ... My visit 2 days ago I was heart broken to see they had cut down the ELDER PEAR TREE ... And the beautiful patch of giant elephant ears too ... That pear tree was old and produced so much fruit every year I am shocked and upset they chose to remove it ... The fruit fed many animals ... It was for many many years a "food source" to all Wildlife ... Man continues to alter what Nature does without regard for the removal of a wildlife food source AND HABITAT ... Yes teaching children about Gardening and ALL that goes into it and the importance of it is critical BUT it is important to also teach preservation and conservation ... That ELDER PEAR TREE was a perfect tool for teaching these important things ... The Matthew Whaley School has a nice sized Parking Lot behind it ... During the EVENING and on WEEKENDS you can park in parking spots right along the school ... Yes there is HANDICAPPED PARKING and access to Garden doable ... A bit hard to maneuver wheelchair within the garden as it is dirt paths ... but it can be done ... Garden right now doesnt have a bounty of flowers and plants as in the past ... I wonder what has happened there ... There were beds of SUNFLOWERS and ZINNIAS and many other vegetables etc ... I will try to post some of those beautiful photos that are now just a memory ... Plant fruit trees and bushes and flowering plants that benefit ALL Wildlife and in the end ALL of us humanoids ... 🐝 kind ... Live and let live ... Dont kill something just because you think it is ugly or a pest or nuisance or a rodent etc ... Man is the deadliest of Predators abd the ONLY LIVING ENTITY responsible for POLLUTION AND ANIHILATION of ALL that is Natural and beautiful ... Trees ... Water ways and sources ... Woodlands ... Bogs ... Creeks ... Rivers ... Streams ... Lakes ... Ponds ... Venable pools/ponds ... Old Growth Forests ... Oceans ... ALL WILDLIFE NATURAL HABITATS ... Overdevelopment ... Greed ... Man needs to Restore .. Repair .. Replenish .. Redevelop .. Replant .. Refurbish .. REWARDS .. SHARE THIS MOTHER EARTH ... Man is the ONLY LIVING ENTITY that DOES what he/she DOES with BOTH FULL AND COMPLETE KNOWLEDGE ... Man is the ONLY LIVING ENTITY GIFTED WITH BOTH FREE WILL AND FREEDOM OF CHOICE ... Man CHOOSES what he/she DOES ... We are SO LUCKY ... So please SHARE this Mother Earth ... What will be left for your children ... I have no children but I am heart sick over what is ahead for them ... Concrete Cities ... NO NATURAL HABITATS AND THE WILDLIFE THAT ADORN THESE VERY NECESSARY SANCTUARIES OF NATURE ... Yes we CAN help ... Stop POLLUTING AND PLANT PLANT PLANT ... When an area is being developed it should FIRST have a group go into this area and rescue and relocate any ground dwelling Wildlife ... Is this a lot of hard work and effort ??? Yes !!! But the rewards are undescribable ... There should be WILDLIFE CORRIDORS LEFT OR MADE IN EVERY NEW DEVELOPMENT ... AND STOP USING POISONS IN OUR GARDENS AND FARMLANDS ETC ... WE ARE KILLING OURSELVES ... Oh dear ... My hope is that my words will do something good and promote kindness and compassion for all living things ......

I had been visiting Williamsburg periodically since 1962. My wife (a Richmond girl) & I had always enjoyed the experience until our last visit several months ago. Let me first say, slavery was a terrible stain on our history. But being 2 people that love history, on our last visit, we felt that with such an emphasis on slavery, it detracted from the significance of Williamsburg importance in the founding of this fledgling nation. It stressed the negative aspects of the nation, rather than the positves of the American experience. It became an experience in wokeism and we have no desire to ever return. Sad to see one more historical site lose balance and true...
