Highly recommend this seemingly small book shop if you're looking for older rarer books and a calm quiet environment! It was such a unique experience for me and almost felt like a dream, you walk in thinking its a teeny tiny book shop but then as you turn the corner you see nothing but books!!! Books on shelves, books on floors, on chairs, tables, and maybe even the ceiling??? I can't recall too well. There where stacks of books, piles of books, books in different languages, very very old books, new books, big and small books, you're absolutely surrounded by books. The cashier lady (who was indeed surrounded by a pile of books, from what i remember) was incredibly kind and easy to talk to and mentioned Alice in Wonderland, which i thought was kinda crazy considering that's my name and she didn't know that, and then she called me, "pretty lady" and i genuinely think i thought about that for the rest of the day. This is probably a little dramatic but i think i found my will to live again in this book store. The book i got was exactly what i was hoping for! There's just something about this book shop out of all book shops I've been to that really sets...
Read moreHonestly I was really excited to stop in here on my road trip up the east coast (Savannah, Charleston, Wilmington, Raleigh, etc.). It had the best reviews so I had high expectations, but was sadly very disappointed. The staff were very nice and helpful but the store was very messy and overwhelming, and triggered the allergies of everyone in my group because of the dust. The organization was unique to say the least, with many things just piled up. I've been in similar bookstores before all across the world, ones overflowing with books, but none have felt as messy and dirty as this one did. The pile of empty cardboard boxes at the very the front just reinforced how much this place needed to be cleaned and organized. It's definitely worth a stop in, but be prepared with a mask to...
Read moreWe were turned away due to an 8 person limit for a huge bookstore. I love this place but probably will not return. My husband and I and our four children were going to have to wait outside in the cold for the store to clear out before they would let us in. We had waited weeks to be able to come here. We wanted to support our local small business but instead had to go spend our $200 at Books A Million. I was heartbroken. This 8 person limit doesn’t make sense at all. I am an ER nurse and am all for public heath but unless they are using hepa filters to scrub the air and then wiping down every book and surface after each group of people it doesn’t make sense. AT ALL. This insanity will destroy small businesses. How completely...
