Salem Creek Inc — Attraction in Winston-Salem

I LOVE THIS STORE!!!!!!! I used to be a NICU nurse/ Clinical Manager at a nearby hospital. There were many days that I worked long shifts. When I needed to regroup and refresh, I went to Salem Creek and walked around. That always made me feel much better. I also had to buy something every time because they have so many amazing things. I also had had a few neck surgeries and wore a cervical collar for a long time. Every time I went to Salem Creek a few of the staff would ask how I was feeling. So Kind!!!! Later when I was unleashed from the collar, the owner approached me and said she noticed that I had no collar on and kindly asked how I was feeling. She has always been so kind and is always smiling. Most recently, my husband, my Service Dog In Training and I were shopping for Christmas at Salem Creek. One of the ladies working there was so nice and she asked us if we wanted her to take a picture of us by the big Santa. We were so excited and we ended up with several awesome family pictures on my phone. How often do we get a shopping experience like that? Salem Creek has many different departments. I have several Vera Bradley backpacks from there. I have beautiful furniture and decor from there.They have specialty foods and samples to try. They have coffee, jewelry, etc. I could go on and on. went here with my bf. i knew this was a wealthy person store which i have the money to afford to shop here. but me and my bf were not dressed to look the part and it was clear the employees were judging hard. my bf is mexican and i think he was the only person of color in the store which is not the stores fault but it was clear he was getting judged more than me. we did not have nice clothes on either so that didn’t help. i went here for the enewton store and have really been wanting some but we went the day after christmas so there was not much of a selection which i understand. i also had gotten 1-2k in christmas money and was going to spend that so i was not planning to steal anything nor was my bf that’s not something either of us do, but the employees apparently thought so. they had one employee continuously walk behind me and another lady employee stare through my soul while trying to pick a bracelet. i wont lie i was there for a few minutes because i really wanted one that day and the selection was scarce but we bought one and then the lady’s attitude changed...

This is or was a wonderful shop. They have gotten away from the uniqueness that was their best feature. I still love the store and always go in hoping to see new items. I am overwhelmed by the rug department and can't imagine the need for it. There are certain employees who are wonderful people and I have never had anyone follow me around and I usually look like a bum. The Department 56 section is being scaled down and to me it was the main draw as it was so magically displayed. I like that they are closed on Sundays and which that all stores would follow...
