After checked-in realized the room is not the type I booked. Checked with the front desk, in the beginning they insist it's the correct room type until I showed them the photo/description on Trip.com app. They then said the information on Trip.com is incorrect, and twist again saying the information of room type is not passed down to the hotel. It's kinda obvious they knew it's different type of room, trying to find excuse by blaming the platform. They asked me to feedback to Trip.com but I know it's not going to solve my problem. They just try their luck like a scammer. After long negotiation, they said will compensate the price difference between the room types (ok now they admit the 2 rooms are different type, also means they were lying in the beginning). It was late evening already so I didn't ask clarify the amount of compensation. During check-out, they just return me 200k VND (8.20 USD) saying this is the price difference. I booked 2 rooms for 2 nights, the price difference is definitely not just 200k VND. We were busy checking out to catch out bus to Hanoi, no more time to argue with them. Btw, on one of the evening when I spoke to one of the elder lady at front desk, she said we are the 3rd group with such issue, she said it's normal to her. Looking back the whole story, we can conclude it's a scam.About the room. The location is good, has a staircase connecting to the main street at the back of the hotel. The room has a weird smell, a strong smell from sewer pipes. The smell get stronger after we use the shower and basin. Breakfast is good. Wifi signal is poor, we mostly use our own local sim card. The room sound insulation is poor, can easily hear noise from next door...
Read moreIt was a good hotel quite nearby where we got off the sleeper bus. The rooms were large and the room was clean. Only issue was the wooden blinds in the shower. It needed to be replaced as there was mold and you couldn't fully close it. Everything else was great! Couldn't enjoy the little balcony attached to the room as it was raining whenever we were in the room. Had a great view of the town from our room.||||We booked a package which came with meals and they were all tasty. The vietnamese coffee was great too! Staff were friendly and helpful. During our stay, there was heavy renovation beside the hotel and they were refurbishing the rooms on the highest floor. Didn't bother us too much because we were not in the hotel when the reno works were going on.||||Ask the staff for the shortcut behind the hotel to get to the main street. It's just a walk down the stairs! Very convenient as there were plenty of shops and cafes. The church is also nearby but be wary of the beggars selling you stuff. It's quite pityful to see them trying so hard to sell their things but there were just too many of them everywhere. If you buy from one, many more will follow. They were really quite persuasive. A few of them even followed my mom so far and came so close till it became uncomfortable. Thankfully another local Vietnamese tourist came to our rescue and asked them to move along.||||I wouldn't recommend visiting Sapa for the next few years as there is just too much development going on now. It affected the air quality and the place is...
