York Oratory — Attraction in England

We began our married lives here and St Wilfrid's have since become family to us. When I was out of work, a part-time job in the parish came my way. When my daughter was born, meals were delivered. With it being a city centre parish, it attracts a diverse congregation of families, students, tourists and plenty of people who are of international heritage. I live in Glasgow, but have had the privilege of visiting St Wilfrid's several times in recent years. Recently I was able to attend two Sunday masses with two of my small daughters.

Its a truly beautiful Church, even my children were moved to comment on this. The standard of the latin liturgy and accompanying music/chant is superb and truly helps lift our hearts and minds to God.

The priests and congregation are very helpful and friendly.

I'm sure it would be a nice place if the people were not anti-abortion. For the church to organize a vigil outside a local abortion clinic in York shows how oppressive and damaging this particular church and its members are. All churches and religions surely are meant to be places of love, forgiveness and acceptance. They could be using there time and efforts working with the community instead...
