We just came back from 5 days for skiing in Lech and a stay at Hotel Arabell and we cannot think of any better hotel we could have stayed at for the first skiing trip this season. We felt so welcome and the Family Wolf is making the anyway nice hotel to a real perl, we would like to thank them for their attentive hospitality. The presence of the family all over the hotel is amazing, we never where waiting more than 2-3 minutes after sitting down by the fireplace after skiing, until somebody of the family asked us how the day was and what they can bring us to drink. ||One of the best things there is the great 5-course dinner. Like others already did, we would also recommend booking the half-board as it is not only super tasty, but also very nicely prepared and served. We tried some other restaurants of 4* hotels by the slope for lunch, but were nearly always a bit dissapointed because of the high standard we experienced at the Arabell. They have just one menu and there is no option to choose from different mains, but the daily menu is varying and in the case you want to skip one course they are more than happy to serve you another one you liked more twice. In the case you are vegetarian, you just have to inform them when booking, you will get a vegetarian dinner with an own menu. One of the highlights was for us the salat bar with at least 15 seperately marinated fresh salats and for the greens some great dressings to choose from. The wine parings they recommend with the daily menu always went well with the dinner and had very reasonable prices.||Our room was spacious, clean and very newly renovated, nothing to add to the pictures on the homepage, they really are looking so nice, and the beds were comfortable for us.||I personally didn't join the Spa too much, I went to the Sauna twice, but I was quite surprised how clean and neat it is. In general I am a bit sceptical towards Spas in cellars, as they often smell moldy and don't have any charm. But the wooden floor in the relaxation room, the fireplace in the front of the loungers and the subtle chill out music give the whole area a very nice atmosphere. The only downside was that there are only two showers in one room, so after the Sauna there was a short queue to cool off yourself under cold water (there is one regular and one steam sauna). ||We definately can recommend this hotel for couples, small groups of friends and families, but aren't too sure about bigger groups who are into apres-ski and come to Lech...
Read moreThis was the perfect Alps retreat for our Christmas holiday. Convenient location, very close to the heart of the town, but juuust far enough that you don't have to worry if you aren't in the mood to be kept awake by others' apres ski.||||The rooms are spacious and a perfect blend of modern decor, and traditional charm to remind you this is an alpine ski lodge, and they are kept spotless. Wonderful to return to after a day on the slopes.||||The amenities are all taken care of, from the spa to the ski room, but there are two things that truly set Arabell apart:||||1) The cuisine is absolutely top notch, particularly the 8 course meal on Christmas eve, and incredibly accomodating to dietary restrictions. We had booked for half board, and when we started factoring in the value of what we "thought we'd pay" if we were going out every night to order these dinners, we were blown away.||||2) The Wolf family, who own the hotel, are the perfect hosts. In addition to greeting everyone, and repeatedly making sure that everything was taken care of, you could tell at their Christmas Eve pre-dinner cocktail hour how many of these guests were repeat visitors--a testament to the atmosphere the family provides. ||||An example of their hospitality--it's a small one, but it captures the care they provide to their guests: On our last day, we informed Herr Wolf that we needed to leave very early in the morning, and asked if we could settle our bill that evening, which he said was no problem. Later, during her usual visits to each table at dinner, Frau Wolf said "Of course, we cannot allow you to get on the road on an empty stomach, so our chef will prepare a breakfast for you to take with you," and asked exactly what we would like. The following morning, as we were getting all of our stuff together, there was a light knock at the door. The chef handed us a bag packed with everything we had discussed, plus everything Frau Wolf insisted we would need--and an extra surprise, a batch of the Christmas cookies she'd noticed my wife and I had been fond of.||||Before we'd even made it out of town, we were already discussing the need to return, and the fact that there was only one place we'd...
