This is a restaurant that offers Khmer cuisine that is plated in a modern style. The plating and appearance is good that ignite your mood to food.
The restaurant located in the roadside of Sisowath Quay adjacent to the mighty Mekong river. You will notice that eventhough the restaurant itself is literally seated on the busy roadside, but the noise from the passing vehicles is reduced significantly that you can enjoy your food in peace of mine.
As usual, you will not find dedicated parking spaces for you to park, but this restaurant uses the pedestrian street as the parking space. It cam accomodate up to 5 cars.
Don't expect to much on the menus, because the choices are limited. Basically the menus are divides into four categories: (1.). Starter (2). Main course, (3). Vegetarian, (4). Desert.
Well.. the welcoming finger food is nice. They offer three type of finger foods: (1). Mini Numbanchok, (2). Mini Spring Roll (vegetable spring roll, no meat), (3). Mini Duck Salad. All the finger food are taste good.
On waitress, they are all attentive, well-groomed, and helpful. They are kind too. Five stars for the waitress.
The starters, the main course and the desert, are exeptional. I enjoyed my lunch. The Banana Ice Cream is so deliciou.
I spend around $69 for two, with my Cambodian good friend with whom I work with on some occasions.

Read moreI finally made it to Sombok Restaurant, having walked by it on several occasions, but never been in.
As expected, it is a classy, tastefully decorated restaurant. The two chefs work in tandem to deliver some of the highest level Cambodian & Fusion meals you can think of.
It beats any other Cambodian restaurant I have tried here in Phnom Penh right out of the water.
The waiting staff is very friendly and fun. They know their stuff and even recommended me a few dishes.
I had the Grilled eggplant salad to start with, followed by the Saraman Wagyu beef.
The salad was very fresh and tasty, really surprising and the beef was simply perfect. Tender, juicy, with fantastic full flavours. I really enjoyed it.
The only minor detail I would like to add is that I would have enjoyed some type of vegetable with my beef. The beef itself is delicious, so is the sauce... The puffed rice biscuit and the little flower look nice on the place, but they do not really add any flavour, nor do they add much different textures.
My friend had the Green korko soup and he was also very happy. He knew the dish and had had it before, but it was by far the best he'd every had.
It was a wonderful culinary experience and I will definitely be back.
Good luck to the two young ladies in...
Read moreA hidden treasure that I nearly missed had my colleague not invited me on this dinner trip! It’s a really fancy place that offers Khmer fine dining using I think locally sourced ingredients and let me just say, the freshness can be felt with every bite!! Here’s what we got: seafood sharing plate: bursting with the juiciest most succulent chunks of prawn and squid, this dish was more than enough for 4 of us to share. Caramelized duck: one of my favorites: the duck meat was fall-off-the-bone tender and braised with the perfect level of sweetness. Very Chinese style, and we loved the addition of lotus root and mushrooms. king prawn amok: one of my favorites too!! The sauce was like a very coconutty curry infused with lemongrass. Once again, their prawns are chefs kiss so so incredibly juicy and plump!!! Beef with green curry paste: a very interesting combination that surprisingly felt very clean, probably from the fresh eggplants and basil Don’t miss out on the desserts here!! We got the Pandan cake, chocolate sphere and apple tart. The highlight for me was the chocolate sphere which was dark and rich and so harmonious with the hot sauce and ice cream that came with it.
All in all 10/10,...
