I began my stay in May of 2019 and stayed on and off all the way through August. I basically got to know all of the staff. The staff was great! I remember being picked up by the airport pickup they offer, one of their ambassadors was there, Rosie. She was extremely nice and enjoyable. ||||I began to become friends with much of the staff, and now have them in FB. Alvin or Vichet, His Khmer name, was very awesome and friendly. He made jokes all the time. He was always quick to do the tasks you asked him to do. It was always exciting seeing him whenever I came to stay at the Bliss. He was hilarious. Good English too. ||||Pheaktra, who often worked as a waiter and doing other odds and ends, though he may have been deaf and mute could communicate love. I really enjoyed this man. It’s easy to feel shy or intimidated when you don’t know how to communicate with someone, but it just starts with acknowledgement. I would communicate with him using numbers and calendars on my phone. We would use emojis. Neither of us knew sign language, but we figured out some ways to communicate, so becoming friends with this man was highly enjoyable. I highly recommend taking the time to invest in Pheaktra. He is lovely. ||||Lin was another who worked as a waiter. He didnt really know English, but that’s okay. Very professional looking. He would often take my breakfast order and we would speak what little bit we knew of each other’s language to each other. ||||Neth was a waitress. Not much of an English speaker, but she still did well at her job. She is not a loud individual. She is very quiet, but will always give you a smile when taking your order.||||Thyda, worked the front desk. Good English speaker. Very professional and she will find a way to help you with whatever you need. She is a woman who will part waters to accomplish a task. ||||Sopkon. He just started working there before I left Cambodia, but he was very nice and professional, as well as a good English speaker. He often worked the front desk. Very friendly. ||||The cleaning crew. They did very well. Whenever I was out they would always clean my room. None of them really speak English, but that’s okay. Make my bed, sweep my floors, clean my toilet, new towels, refill the complimentary water. They were friendly. Even if you don’t speak the English acknowledgement or smiling does so much. I would have fun trying to say their names. Other than that couldn’t really communicate, but it’s fun. ||||The pool was nice. The waterfall is a super nice touch. Really cuts down on mosquitos because it isn’t stagnant water. ||||The beds were comfortable. Multiple times I laid in them for a ridiculously long time. ||||The showers had excellent pressure and temperature. I often felt like I was about to burn my skin off. I would have to turn down the heat. I would recommend pulling out the drain while you shower as the water tends to drain slow. Some bathrooms have a pipe that runs in them that sometimes smells, just close the bathroom door and turn on the fan and it should be fine. ||||WiFi, pretty much always worked. Maybe a few times I had glitches with it. But I spent a lot of time in northern Cambodia and Bliss had some of the better internet. Of course with less people there the WiFi works better. ||||Pictured is me...
Read moreIn some ways this boutique hotel was one of the best places to stay on our trip. Not because of its location or building, but it’s staff and welcoming environment. |It is brave of a hotel to employ a deaf mute as part of their hospitality staff, but for all of us his friendly nature and willingness to contribute makes him a very valuable asset. His smile at making a difference and being included is worthwhile staying here just for that experience alone.|Nicely appointed room, shower/bathroom quite contemporary in design but a little dark|Bed quite firm, a little aggravating on the pressure points, but overall passable.|Room design quite open, leading onto the pool area - a lot of dead area where additional casual seating may have been placed.|Location not ideal - $2 tuk-tuk into Pub Street so not a huge issue.|Staff very friendly and courteous - appeared to try too hard on occasions but tourism is obviously very important to them - some obvious inexperience in aspects of hospitality, like removing a cork from a wine bottle.|Encouraged a singalong on Saturday and the staff were very accomodating with the music.|Hot water system went down, but was fixed within an acceptable time frame.|Food OK, traditional menu with plenty of beer/spirits/cocktails. Happy hour is...
Read moreThe biggest asset of this hotel is the staff and the pool (big and beautiful). The wife and I stayed there for 4 nights and the rooms were pretty big and spacious compared to other hotels we stayed in Vietnam and Phnom Penh. The view from the balcony overlooking the swimming pool was picturesque. They have cable TV and it has both local and international channels. In the afternoon when the weather was too hot we stayed indoors and watched some movies. The location isn't too bad, 15 minutes to the main tourist hub but if you aren't feeling like walking then they have tuk-tuks right in front of the hotel and are very cheap. The best part of the hotel I found were the staff. Always very polite, helpful and working with a smile. Everyone from the reception, kitchen or housekeeping always greeted you and were always cheerful and smiley. We always took the time to talk to them during our stay and they were genuinely nice and some of them were pretty funny too. Despite the language barrier they managed to make our stay a comfortable and memorable one. Highly...
