I was part of a group of three adults and one baby. We called ahead and booked a table. When we arrived, the place was relatively full, but our table was available and had a “reserved” sign. We waited over an hour and fifteen minutes for our breakfast to arrive. Other tables arrived after us and got their food substantially in advance of us. When I raised this with the waitress (who was particularly inattentive) and how we couldn’t afford to wait much longer as the baby needed to eat, she got the manager. He came over and indicated they were busy and there was nothing he could do. When I raised that other tables who arrived after us had been served before us, he indicated that it was because they had “reserved” their tables and that tables who reserved GOT SERVED FIRST, REGARDLESS of when they arrived! NEVER have I ever heard of a restaurant doing this. Regardless, it didn’t even make sense, as we had reserved our table. Instead of apologizing, the manager doubled down. Despite waiting for an hour and fifteen minutes, they also got my father in law’s order wrong. SO disappointed with the service. I will NEVER go back here and actively recommend you go anywhere else...
Read moreThe Bluenose Lodge hosted our small, intimate wedding ceremony dinner in October, and it was an absolute dream. Mark and his team went above and beyond to ensure that our guests were taken care of, and helped the entire wedding party stay organized and ensure a fantastic experience for all. The guests who stayed at the lodge were just over the moon with the service, and the kindness with which it was delivered.
The actual dinner was delicious, with everyone marvelling at each dish that came out. Our gratitude to Chef Konrad!
Communication prior to the event was excellent; going into the day, I had no anxieties about the dinner, because I knew there wouldn't be a thing to worry about -- the professionalism and kindness were clear from my very first interaction with them. Every detail had been taken care of, and Mark worked with me -- and helped me stay stress-free! -- through everything.
I would highly recommend The Bluenose Lodge as a venue for your gatherings -- and to go for a fantastic dinner! You are in for a treat. We can't wait to visit again.
Signed, a very happy and...
Read moreLovely historic lodging house built circa 1863; dripping with nostalgic character and run by the lovely Andrea who will do anything she can to help make your stay as pleasant as possible. There is a convenience store right across the street with a Burger King inside it in case you need candy, chicken & chips, beef jerky, or a milkshake at odd hours, and in literally any direction you take, you’ll end up in a wonderful part of town.
As someone who has a neuro disability and can’t drive, this makes me really appreciate the Bluenose’s brilliantly placed location: I can explore the town, and when the nerves in my leg start to cause me bother, it’s not a long way back to the inn (though there are two local taxicab companies if that were ever an issue).
The rooms are charmingly decorated, the grounds are well kept, and the street looks straight out of my 1970’s childhood ~ Just the type of place I sought out to avoid the coldness and unfeeling of a modern, corporate,...
