Stayed here overnight on a cross country trip with my family. It’s always a bit sketchy trying to book a hotel in The Gap (Saskatchewan), but you always do what you can and hope for the best. We have two little children (like the age where you sometimes question why you are making cross country trip with them). Anyways, it isn’t anything fancy, but it was very clean and very quiet. The A/C worked well and kept the room cool through the night. The shower water was hot…like I felt like I was standing on the surface of the sun…but I’m a woman, and we tend to like to leave showers on inferno setting anyways, so I just rotated like a rotisserie chicken until done. Breakfast was bagels, toast, muffins, and waffles. Their coffee was surprisingly delicious and as a mom with the aforementioned small children, this is an essential component to a favourable “road trip atmosphere”. Also my husband and I counting calories so the lesser options at breakfast aided in us staying on the proverbial bandwagon when tempted to imbibe in those ever abundant “trip” calories (which don’t count until you are home and reunited with your scale). There weren’t any playpens available to borrow, so that was one drawback, but we don’t stand on ceremony in our household, so the youngest one got an makeshift bed on the floor and we all survived. Overall it was definitely worth the money. I would...
Read moreGo to check to the hotel only to find the prepaid reservation wasn't on record. Then check the rate and it was $10 per night more than my confirmed rate. The evening front desk agent spent about a half hour on the phone attempting to resolve the matter, and was able to confirm the rate and prepayment but said he would need to contact customers service the next day because it was closed for the day. Fine. Get back to the hotel after the event the next day to see a message on the phone only to find out nothing had been resolved and in fact no one knew anything about it and the notes the previous days front desk agent wrote were no where to be found. I then went to the front desk again in tow with a disgusting towel that my daughter found folded in the bathroom and got a rude talking over me instead of listening to the issue agent. To the point where he came to my room, shoved a phone at me and said you need to handle it with the people that it was already discussed with the previous night. Now this is on top of getting into the room and there not even being soap to wash your hands with and a breakfast that was sub par at best. I don't feel this hotel is even worthy of the moniker Econo. As of right now I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Dissatisfied doesn't adequately describe...
Read moreLet me start by saying the lady who checked us in was absolutely amazing and did all she could to make us comfortable but the following issues were NOT her fault
Room was absolutely wreaking of tobacco smoke that never dissipated throughout the night as attested to by the other guests we spoke to....our conclusion is it was pouring in from the bathroom fan vent, we both have asthma so by the morning we were in breathing distress...we would have left but it was late and we just didn't have the energy for the drama
I had to wash the floors, toilet and surfaces as it was obvious no cleaning had been accomplished, dried liquid pools on the floors, coffee rings etc on table surfaces, the toilet was NOT cleaned properly etc
I'm a retired Maid Service owner (20 years) so very confident in my assessment and my serious recommendation is to FIRE your cleaning staff
The only upside to this disaster were the very comfortable mattresses and the front desk staff that tried so hard to help
We have stayed in numerous Econolodge sites and have never experienced these problems, according to others we've now spoken too this site has been this way for many years so I'm fully aware this review means nothing and will go nowhwre
Dissapointed,
