Overall had a good stay. There were a few things that weren’t quite right. 1. The bathroom walls are glass! And not frosted glass, partially-frosted designed glass that is still clear enough that there really isn’t any privacy. You can see the beds from the toilet and the toilet from the bed. We were always asking each other to turn away. Just be prepared for this, all the functionality was there but just have a plan in place if you’re used to privacy in the bathroom. The lobby toilet was dirty about 1/2 the time I tried to use it. 2. We were there when it was about 90° F out. The room AC could not cool the room. It was not able to get the room below 82° which was uncomfortable for sleeping. 3. The room wasn’t as clean as I would have liked. The carpet was rundown and stained. There was stuff along the wall that hadn’t been vacuumed. The good things: The hotel felt very safe, there was always a doorman there, and the front desk was always staffed. Everyone there was really nice and helpful. They had free luggage storage for the day of checkout. They had a water filter station to refilled water bottles. The breakfast was good. Several options. The location was great to walk to the museums and historic sites of Santiago. And Lastarria in the evening was bustling, it was fun to wander around the neighborhood. We didn’t use the pool, it looked a little run down and dirty.

I stayed here recently for 3 nights. The hotel was nicely decorated & very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was delicious. Interesting thing about the bathroom walls was that it’s made of partially frosted glass which’s unusual but unique. There’re lots of restaurants/bars nearby with a few street vendors that sells some artwork near the corner of the hotel. All the major museums are within walking distance less than 30 minutes away from the hotel. The only minor issue I experienced was on the day of departure. I asked the front desk to store my luggages due to late departure. However when I returned to retrieve my luggages one of them was missing. Luckily the front desk agent managed to find it from the a separate basement storage room. Overall I had a great stay & would be happy to stay here again for the future.

Luxurious but not uptight hotel! Location is absolutely perfect, it is a few meters away from the subway, and right in the middle of Lastarria, one of Santiago’s nicest neighborhoods, surrounded by restaurants, shops, theaters, including the most important in the city (GAM) and Parque Forestal park. Rooms are very elegant and modern. Beds are really comfortable. Breakfast buffet is amazing, and the view from the terrace where the restaurant is located is spectacular! In the first floor there is a good bar, with average prices and good food.

We stayed at Hotel Cumbres Lastarria and had a mixed experience—some fantastic aspects, but also some surprising letdowns.||Pros:||✅ Excellent Location – Right in Lastarria, close to parks, restaurants, and places to explore. Perfect for walking around.|✅ Brilliant Rooftop Pool – Great for lounging and taking in the city views.|✅ Good Breakfast Selection – The buffet had a wide variety—though not great if you’re vegan.|✅ Nice Room Amenities – The water machine in the rooms was a thoughtful touch.|✅ Friendly Staff – The team was welcoming, though the entrance felt a little intimidating at first.||Cons:||❌ Not Vegan-Friendly – Very limited options if you have dietary restrictions.|❌ Rooms Feel Stuck in the 1970s – It’s as if they renovated the rest of the hotel and forgot about the rooms and hallways. The decor is shockingly outdated and doesn’t match the quality of the public areas.||Tips for Santiago||🚗 Do a day trip to Cajón del Maipo – Book it yourself through GetYourGuide or similar; the hotel’s offer was insanely expensive.|🏙️ City Lacks a Wow Factor of others like say Rio but is is great – 2-3 days is plenty before moving on.|🌄 Catch the Views –| • Cerro San Cristóbal for panoramic city views.| • Sky Costanera for a 360° perspective of Santiago.|🍔 Try a Barros Luco – A simple but iconic Chilean sandwich with beef and melted cheese. Fuente Alemana is the best place to try it!||Neighborhood Impressions||📍 Barrio Italia (South) – Charming, with great restaurants.|📍 Barrio Bellavista (North) – Less charming, more nightlife-focused.|📍 Providencia (Northeast) – Touristy but pleasant.|📍 Centro (East) – Skip it unless you want to see government buildings—not much else there.||The location and rooftop pool make this hotel a solid choice, but the outdated rooms really hold it back. If you care more about common spaces and location, you’ll enjoy it—but if room quality matters, you may want to look elsewhere.||⭐ Rating: 3.5/5 Would I stay again? Only if they...

Calm Oasis During the Protests! - We arrived in Santiago during a protest and couldn't get closer than 3 blocks to our Airbnb. We were dropped off in front of Hotel Cumbres. After dragging all our luggage 3 blocks to a dead end street with a barricade and curtains across it, we ventured in to find a medical treatment area in front of our Airbnb with people on stretchers in the street. Then came the tear gas...

We went back to Hotel Cumbres and were able to check in immediately at a very reasonable rate for the entire week. The hotel is lovely and stylish, and all the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. It was completely quiet and peaceful inside at all times. They include an excellent breakfast daily in their wonderful rooftop restaurant where we enjoyed the cooler mornings on the patio.

I highly recommend staying at Hotel Cumbres. It has a fantastic location in Lastarria, close to many restaurants and walking distance to everything you'll want to see - Cerro Santa Lucia, Palacio Moneda, Plaza de Armas, Cerro San Cristobal and the Funicular, Museo de Bellas Artes, Parque Forestal, etc.

Special mention to Ignacio at the front desk, who went above and beyond to get information for another couple in our party. They had a reservation at the Crowne Plaza, which turned out to be completely shut down and never notified them their reservation was effectively cancelled! Also, Edgar in the rooftop restaurant provided excellent service every day...
