The hotel itself is smart, interesting design and artwork, the restaurant for dinner was very good indeed, the location is good in that there are views of the ocean, even though the street outside is noisy day and night which impacts on this next comment, but the main downfall of this hotel is the clearly management decision to switch off the room air conditioning from 11pm until 8 am - therefore if one wakes up in the night having closed the windows to shut out the constant noise, then it is HOT, airless and unbearable. A hotel HAS to offer a "good night's sleep" by sheer definition, otherwise best to shut up shop and just have a restaurant and bar. Appalling at reception that the clerk had seemingly been instructed to say that this is what happens in Chile! Tut tut! Not so, we have already stayed in hotels in this country who aren't quite so stupid as to have this policy of saving a little bit of money. Very short-sighted. So unless you are able to go to sleep and stay that way for 9 hours, would suggest that you don't stay here. We certainly won't again. Such a shame when effort has been put into other areas. Service in the restaurant was particularly good - well run and very friendly. Breakfast was not so good - a just about adequate continental breakfast - however, when i asked for natural yoghurt - no, haven't got that delivered by a very unsmiling person who obviously would rather have been elsewhere. When i asked for 'normal breakfast tea' - again a response from the same 'manager' telling me that tea bags were on the table - not with the other mint/herbal ones located by the hot water. Just a niggle but after a very hot night I wasn't in the mood to be talked at. The receptionist at check out, knowing how cross we were should have got hold of the manager not tried to deal with the situation inadequately. She was neither empowered nor trained properly. She apologised but shrugged her shoulders... out of her...
Read moreDo not ever stay here. We arrived late it the afternoon. The room was warm, but we left a key card in to keep the A/C on. When we arrived back from dinner, it was warm in the room, even though we had set it on the lowest setting. Later on that night, it was 82 degrees F. We called the front desk and they sent a maintenance man, he was Spanish, we are English, so I used a translator app. They knew something was wrong, as when the maintenance man came up, he brought a fan and told us the front desk would call us. They never did. The next morning, it was 84 degrees in our room. I went down to the front desk to complain, and was told that they turn the chillers off at 10 p.m. My remark that this was ridiculous, and he agreed. I told him I would turn in a negative review if he charged me. He told me my review should include that their culture is not to have it freezing cold in a room. 84 degrees F is way to hot for anyone. So, after thinking about it, I went back and said, if you turn the chillers off at 10 pm, when do you turn them back on. His answer was in the morning, my question was, why is my room still at 84 degrees. He told me he would personally check this it. He did charge me for the room. We had booked a taxi through them that didn't show up, we asked the to call, and they told us we could go up a floor to the internet center and email the. Thankfully, someone else on staff called for taxis. Service here...
Read moreThe good:|Every staff member was very helpful, nice and respectful. Very good English also.||Rooms always clean, clean towels and sheets every day.||Breakfast is average, you've got the basic for a ham/cheese sandwich, marmalade sachets, cereals but if you want a good coffee or tea, "Tavelli cafe" is 2 blocks away. ||Wifi worked perfect. At night was slow for obvious reasons.||To improve:||The air conditioning system is very old and noisy and if you want to open your window instead... it is even worse, San Martin avenue is very busy and unfortunately windows don't block the noise very well. ||Pillows were shocking. ||If you don't mind the noise this is a great place to stay and central, walking distance to pretty much...
