My family and I had the best experience in Valparaiso at Chez Gerald newly owned and a new delicious menu! This restaurant it is a MUST TRY... everything we ordered was really good from the appetizers to dessert. Our server José was really kind and patient with us and answered all questions, gave us recommendations and really attentive at all times. The restaurant is beautifully situated right in front of the beach where you can see the sunset and ocean.

MALÍSIMO, pero MALÍSIMO. Fuimos por primera vez a este restaurante, nos llamaba la atención lo lindo que se ve desde fuera y quisimos pasar. Pedimos una comida muy simple, plateada braseada en su jugo (carne con puré) y un risotto al curry thai. El puré era pésimo, solo con sabor a agua y papa, cero gusto a leche y mantequilla. Carne muy desabrida, muy mal preparada, nada de sabor a una verdadera plateada bien hecha. El risotto al curry una vergüenza. Arroz arbóreo no era, parecía arroz normal, muy mal logrado, con una rodaja de piña de tarro encima y de picante nada. Realmente daba vergüenza que un restaurante así sacara este tipo de preparación, considerando que pagamos más de $60.000 en la cuenta para dos personas y no disfrutamos de nada. Al final me hice saber al Garzón lo malo de la comida, me dijo que lo lamentaba mucho y me preguntó, para el remate final, si deseaba incluir la propina en la cuenta. Impresentable. Lo recomiendo para no ir nunca. Debut y mala despedida para este local.

Service was very slow, barely even attended to. Water came after bread....Onion soup was definitely not traditional and tasted like gravy. Ordered Paella and looked like Risotto, ordered steak medium rare and got medium well, fish was warm when I got it and got cold as I was half way through. We could tell the menu is designed for the eldery from tour groups, no flavor to food. Did not even think of ordering dessert as I overheard from waiter patience was needed for dessert. Pricing not in accord to quality. Hostess was not even attentive to our leaving the restaurant.DO NOT...

Today May 1,2024 we decided to try this restaurant because we learned that it has a new owner and we had a really nice surprise. We were immediately greeted with a smile and seated quickly at a table of our like. We ordered appetizer and several a dishes and we were all very satisfied with the flavors and presentation. The timing of our food was perfect and the owner Claudia came to our table to make sure that everything was good. What a nice change from the previous owners. This is going to be a top favorite of many people of Viña for sure. We will definitely visit Chez...

DO NOT GO HERE!!!

This was the worst tourist trap I’ve ever been to. They first tried to push Voss water, then when we declined, it took them ages to bring any water at all. They brought bread before, which was stale, at best. Then the food came, an hour later: Chilean abalone from a can, warmed up, a ceviche and prawn salad with days old prawns. We got up and left, asked for the bill. They did not try to ask what was wrong, only got annoyed that I didn’t want to leave a tip, even after noticing how obviously annoyed we were.
