I cannot say enough good things about this hostel!!! They really take care of you here. The management is wonderful and kind. In a situation completely unrelated to them, we ended up needing a ton of help much beyond the scope of what hostels typically provide. They were so understanding and helpful. In addition to the excellent customer service, this hostel: -has a great location -a laundry service is around the corner -the sandwich shop attached is awesome (& they make a great vegan option) -the airport transfer is super handy -the place is cute - I love the hammocks -I speak almost no Spanish (English only) & it was not a problem

Explora Hostels is a great establishment and a good place to stay, particularly because of their management. The dorm rooms are clean and spacious, although it can get quite noisy outside. Earplugs are available. The shared bathrooms were not very clean, but it was easy to meet people and the location was good. BE VERY CAREFUL when walking around La Candelaria neighborhood. I was robbed and I was aware of at least 3 other people robbed within a day of me. I'd recommend avoiding walking around at night, especially if you're coming from the Transmilenio station, keeping your distance from people trying to sell you something, and not carrying anything of value on you. The private rooms are small. The beds in the private rooms are very uncomfortable. You'll feel every single spring poke into your back while you try to fall asleep. If you're in the toilet or shower, the lights will turn off on you because they're on a sensor. Prepare to shower during the day or in complete darkness. That's all the negatives. The kitchen facility is tiny but has everything you'll need. Friendly staff. Great tour options available. Great location but La Candelaria can get quite sketchy at night.
