It was more or less a nice stay at this place: in a 4-bed dorm room with individual beds (no bunk beds) nicely spaced from one another and so a good size of the room itself to move around inside and also with a nice-sized trunk at the foot of each bed which serves as a locker and yes "most importantly" with an a/c (something pretty much "a must" in the heat of Cartagena!); where the breakfast was one of "some variety" of items & a fairly-filling one; and where it was convenient to get my laundry done (getting charged "per item" but a reasonable total price). Then yes, I would say there's the "ambience or charm" of the place which is like a "heritage building" (of which actually pretty much all buildings being as such in this old town but mostly all well-maintained!) with also an inner courtyard nice to look down from the terrace above where it's also nice to look up at the sky above the courtyard (where I guess after breakfast is the area for the restaurant & bar which are part of this hostel).||||And yes, being located in the "Walled City" is just a nice convenience of enjoying its beauty in daytime with "flower-balconied" buildings to walk past (some balconies more beautiful than others and just plenty of such buildings located all over this old town) and also enjoying the night life including the charming scenes of these horse-drawn open-top carriages (which can be seen along all narrow streets of the town). And also specifically just within a 5-to-10-minute walk from this place are: 3 great cathedrals which likely are the "best ones" in the city (namely Santa Catalina, San Pedro Claver & Santo Domingo), Palace of the Inquisition which is a "pretty good" museum for the history of Cartagena with also an "equestrian statue" of Simon Bolivar in the plaza right in front, and Baluarte de Santo Domingo which is the "west-side wall" with a great sea view to enjoy on top where there are also cannons & small...

Read moreGreat location in the historic city, however there were a few things we weren’t really expecting.||- I suppose it depends what room you stay in, but our room on ground floor was incredibly loud as the main entrance/eating area was next to our room. ||- Wifi was useless in the rooms, need to use in foyer. ||- There is no hot water. It wasn’t a dealbreaker for us however it would have been good to know!! ||- As there is so much humidity, we did wonder whether the rooms walls were growing mould - keep the AC on or the room smelt very off putting and strange. Makes having a shower pretty cold though with AC pumping and no warm water! ||- Very Basic breakfast provisions - Juice/coffee, a slice of watermelon and an arepa is all you have to choose from. Okay for a couple days but much longer it gets a little boring. ||Our room had dirty sheets when we got there, so they had to be changed, and we had to ask for toilet paper.||Room is not cleaned daily so you will need to ask for new towels etc. ||||In all we likely wouldn’t stay here again, if it was a cheap hostel why not, but considering the above And the price, we would stay elsewhere. ||||On the plus side, very...
