Hostel Green House — Hotel in Cartagena

From the reception area it looks like this place is going to be a nice clean hostel. |The lovely girl at reception showed us out dorm, which looked very run down. We expressed concerns about not seeing any mosquito nets, to which she replied mosquitoes do not come in bedrooms. (They probably knock at the door to ask for permission?) Well, this happened just before I could hear a rat squeaking by the kitchen. |On the upside, bathrooms and toilets were clean.|We went on a day trip away for 24h, and they allowed us to leave our backpacks at reception, even though we had now checked out. Very average and overpriced hostel. Unpleasant staff. They charged me 40 mil pesos for a dorm room with no AC when the online price was 8 EUR (less than 25 mil pesos). I didn't realise this when I arrived late at night as didn't have access to wifi and was given this price by the receptionist. I later discovered that the online price was a lot lower and approached the receptionist about it. He dismissed me saying that this is the 'street price' and there's nothing he can do about it (I had already paid). He then asked me to leave the restaurant saying that he had to clean the place. I could have gotten my laundry done anywhere but unfortunately I chose this place. This establishment lost 1/6th of my laundry in less than 24 hours of time, including a whole bathing suit and TWO pairs of shorts that I absolutely adore. Those items alone cost over 100$. Worst part about it is they completely denied my experience when I went over to complain and attempt to find my belongings. As a traveler living in a van I have limited items I carry around and to deal with this is an infuriating hassle. Do NOT give these people your business,...
