SV HOSTAL BADILLO — Hotel in Cartagena

We did not have a great experience here. IIl start with the positives, the location is excellent, and there is a large common balcony for guests. The dorms are also large and bright. Unfortunately we were put into a room at the back of the hotel, that stank of paint or chemicals of some kind, and was nothing like the photos online. It had stained (and miniature) furniture, a weird alcove in the room that lead right beneath a creaky set of wooden stairs, and it looked like it had been painted by schoolchildren. We left early and In fairness they refunded us...

The location is really good, and we had a simple but spacious room with AC. The staff, especially the young lady at the reception during the day, was a complete disaster. She couldn’t answer any of my questions about the city, didn’t even try to communicate in English or via a translator, and was shaking her head before I had even asked anything. While we were out in the city, somebody entered our room and watched TV there, even though we had explicitly asked for the room not to be entered. Pretty noisy but this is caused by the location...

Bad: room with little light. No window. no mosquito net we initially got a room with extensive mold on the wall and in the bathroom.
