Hotel Santorini — Hotel in Guatapé

This is odd hotel. It seems to be design over substance and some of the work seemed shoddy, for example the shower tray had a lip on the floor that you could easily trip on one of the electric sockets was almost out of reach up a wall. |It is true the views are stunning and the rooms huge. However we had two single beds in a room you could hold a party in! Why not have a decent size bed. There was an en-suite - good shower but tucked in the corner of bedroom was a jacuzzi bath with no instructions and not easy to access taps. We also had another sink (bit like kitchen sink) in the bedroom- why? There was a small wardrobe with no hangers and a safe that did not work. We did not bother to complain about either as we were only there for one night as part of a tour. There was a nice sunroof with odd pool very shallow with beds in and small deeper area to dip in. The music however was unbearably loud so we sat by the jacuzzi. Looked nice but there was a family in there most of the time eating ( they were served food by the bar man)- I accept...

Great location- up on the hill at the top of the village so you are away from the noise, but still close enough to walk easily into the center. The room was a great size, and the view was awesome. Super clean, and all quite new still. The tv had the best sound on a hotel tv we have heard ever! The complimentary breakfast was a simple typical meal- scrambled eggs one of two ways, an arepa, some cheese, a plate of fruit and coffee and juice. Basic but a good way to start the day. Some of the staff speak some english, which made things easier when our spanish wasn't up to scratch. I would recommend staying here. You pay a little more, but being able to sleep at night due to no noise is worth it. Only draw back is no elevator, so you have to walk a few stairs. But that is no big deal- we all need a bit...

La ubicación del Hotel Santorini es excelente: tiene una vista preciosa al embalse y está muy cerca del parque principal y de las zonas más animadas de Guatapé, todo se puede recorrer a pie. Además, la suite donde me hospedé con mi pareja estaba limpia y en buen estado general. Pero lamentablemente, la experiencia en conjunto fue decepcionante.

Desde el momento del check-in ya hubo señales de lo que vendría. El primer recepcionista, aunque amable y educada, fue insistente al tratar de venderme la suite más costosa, con jacuzzi, cuando yo ya había dejado claro que prefería una habitación estándar. Curiosamente, fue el único miembro del personal que mostró una actitud realmente cordial; el resto del equipo se mostró distante y poco atento.

Nuestra habitación daba la impresión de haber estado cerrada por semanas. Al abrir la llave del baño, el agua salió oscura, oxidada. Además, el televisor y la nevera estaban desconectados. Se notaba que nadie se tomó unos minutos para preparar la habitación antes de nuestra llegada. Durante toda la estancia, el servicio no fue descortés, pero se sintió muy frío y distante. Al momento del check-out, la recepcionista ni siquiera sonrió ni preguntó si todo había estado bien.

Encontré varios problemas concretos: La caja fuerte estaba bloqueada e inutilizable. La puerta del baño no cerraba; se trababa en el marco, algo incómodo cuando se comparte la habitación. El desayuno tipo “buffet” fue una gran sorpresa negativa. En todos los hoteles donde he estado — y han sido muchos, en muchos países, incluyendo varios tres estrellas en Colombia — nunca me habían negado una segunda porción de huevos. Al acercarme nuevamente, la mesera me dijo: “solo una porción, señor”. Muy desagradable, y deja claro que el hotel no entiende el concepto de un buffet: uno come lo que necesita, no lo que el hotel impone. En la torre contigua hubo huéspedes con música a alto volumen hasta tarde en la noche, y la administración no tomó ninguna medida. Durante toda la estadía tuve la sensación de que la gerencia estaba más preocupada por evitar que los huéspedes “abusen” de los servicios, que por brindar una experiencia agradable. Una...
