My stay at Hotel Don Taco was an unmitigated disaster, an experience so appalling that I am compelled to share my ordeal. As a seasoned traveler, this establishment has earned the dubious honor of being the absolute nadir of my accommodation history.
Upon entering the time-warped room reserved for a two-night stay, it was immediately evident that Hotel Don Taco's commitment to vintage charm extends to a shocking disregard for basic hygiene. The blankets, more akin to relics than linens, left me questioning the last time they had seen the inside of a washing machine.
The situation plummeted from shoddy to disastrous when, returning from dinner, I discovered my room transformed into an icebox. The window, seemingly immune to closure, transformed my quarters into a frigid purgatory. A desperate call to the emergency number proved fruitless, as the clock struck 7 AM the following morning without a single response, leaving me to endure a night of Arctic conditions, fully clothed and shivering.
As a traveler with a discerning palate for quality accommodations, the night's soundtrack of relentless wind and rain served as a chilling reminder of Hotel Don Taco's negligence. With sleep a distant memory, I resolved to check out at the first glimmer of dawn.
Approaching the reception, the feeble attempt to persuade me to endure another night was laughable. I, however, was unwavering in my decision, expecting a reasonable response from the management. Alas, reason was a foreign concept to them.
The subsequent interaction was a masterclass in customer indifference. Promised a WhatsApp response regarding a refund for the second night, Hotel Don Taco reneged, declaring reimbursement an impossibility. To add insult to injury, they audaciously claimed I should have reported the window issue sooner. Apparently, their staff's inability to notice a gaping window was our oversight.
I have never encountered such a blend of apathy and audacity.
In conclusion, Hotel Don Taco is a travesty of hospitality, a place where discomfort and retro aesthetics are prioritized over basic standards. Potential guests, consider this a warning: steer clear unless you're seeking a nightmarish stay in a time capsule of neglect. Your hard-earned money deserves better treatment than what this establishment shamelessly offers.
We received a refund for the one night that we chose not to stay, but they would not refund or compensate for the night we did stay in their horrific accommodation. We told them we would be willing to pay for the breakfast as that was pleasant. They told us we were unreasonable for leaving early. We would have been better off sleeping in the car,...
Read moreTo preface this review: I didn't choose to stay at this hotel, the organization I'm traveling with booked it for us. That being said, I would never have chosen to stay here myself. Everything is extremely outdated, and the room itself is just not functional. To start with, there aren't enough curtains to cover all the windows, and the main curtains don't fully close, allowing the whole room to light up with sun starting 5am. Additionally there's a door to go from the room to the enclosed "balcony", that closes and locks, yet on the other side there's a huge opening, so the door seems very useless. The whole "balcony" would've been better off just being an actual balcony. The swing is a nice addition but doesn't seem very sturdy. There's a hook in the bathroom that is useless as well since they chose to put the soap dispenser right underneath it. My bed was very hard and extremely sqeaky, causing me to wake up from the noise every time I turned in my sleep. There's no AC in the room, but that didn't bother me at all since it was kinda chilly at night and they provided enough blankets (stains included...). Don't expect anything from the breakfast because the eggs are cold, the pancakes very dry and the toast was chewy. The staff was kind and the view from the room was...
Read moreWe stayed there for a night and had great time. We typically don't spend much time in our hotel and this was no exception. However, the beds were good and the room was clean. Great balcony with an amazing view. Sure the TV was ancient but who cares! The complimentary welcome drinks don't include any alcohol but the juice was great and we thought the food was fine and we enjoyed it. ||||It is a climb if getting there by foot. We drove so that was not a problem. ||||One thing that I will say is that it was very, very windy up there. The wind was whipping at our balcony door all night and I was waiting for it to shatter. It did not happen of course but it did keep me up since I am a light sleeper-- everybody else slept fine. They even liked the sound of the wind whipping away at the room. ||||In addition to the balcony in our room, which is big enough for yoga, etc, there is a communal balcony as well, where you one can do yoga, enjoy the view, or hang out and talk to others in the sun. ||||Overall, our stay was excellent and we enjoyed it. While there we did the night tour, zipline, and walked around and ate in the...
