This was a our first stop in Monteverde. We were starving after a long and bumpy ride. This place is vegan friendly, customer service is great, and the hot sauce is good - already a great start for me! We ordered appetizers and each had a dish, we were so hungry. My friends said the ceviche was good as well as the alcohol drinks. Although one drink was way too strong as if they made it without thinking about it tasting good. The drink I loved most was the sandia (watermelon) smoothie. This was my absolute favorite drink all over costa rica. As a vegan, I ordered the yuka fries for apps as well as guac and chips. The yuka fries were so good! Perfectly crispy and flavored, the best I've ever had. The guac was good but really small, enough for one person. I ordered the vegetarian casado - it was well cooked and flavorful. Everything tasted even better with their delicious hot sauces, duh. We cleaned our plates! I'm pretty sure the waiter doubted our ability to finish all the food we ordered (lol). Overall this place was great and I highly recommend anyone stopping in Monteverde to stop by. They had a lot of food options for everyone and all my friends...
Read moreNo point of coming here… I came in, asked if they were serving breakfast. Host said yes. I get seated and host starts off saying that 4 of the 6 menu items are not available… I proceed with ordering one of the available items. I get my food, and a third of my food is missing. I asked the host and they said they didn’t have that ingredient BUT HE DIDNT MENTION IT IN THE BEGINNING WITH EVERYTHING ELSE and that was the most important part of my dish. I asked what he was going to do about it and he said he’d check. He never checked, so I asked again. He said he can give a 10% discount for 1/3 of my plate missing. The maths don’t add up here. At least 30% off would’ve been nice. Not sure what everyone else is eating at this place if half the menu is...
Read moreWe choose Tico y Rico for our second diner in Monteverde after reading some really good reviews. We started with patacones which are served with salsa, guacamole and beans with melted cheese and this was the only good thing I can say about this place. Then we have aztec soup, arroz con pollo and vegetarian casado. Non of the dishes was eatable. The soup tasted like Uncle Ben’s. The vegetarian casado was tasteless - plain rice without a pinch of salt, beans or just beans, dry plantain, steamed broccoli, cauliflower and carrots - really steamed veggies? Arroz con pollo comes with fries and this was the only thing eaten by out 12 year old. We payed 68 dollars for this...
