Bar Amigos — Restaurant in Monteverde

We stayed in Monteverde as Digital Nomads for 8 weeks and ate here once a week. I originally gave this place 5 stars but had to rate it down a LOT as they completely messed up our final visit. We ordered 2 chicken rolls, they didn't taste like they usually did and had an alarming soft and rubbery texture. We then started picking the chicken rolls apart in more detail to find they were raw in the middle. Chicken. Raw. Yes! At the moment of typing this neither of us feel ill, so we hope we stopped just in time. I pointed this out to our service staff who were very apologetic and they asked if we wanted a new 'plate'. We said yes, and they took the meals away. They came back with a 'plate' which was just one meal, which it seemed we were meant to share between us, despite ordering 2 meals originally. When I went to pay we were charged very slightly less for one of our original meals possibly as an apology (I have no idea as no one cared to say anything about it at that point). Considering that myself and my wife hadn't even eaten half of our original meals (because we didn't think it wasn't safe to!) we shouldn't have been charged at all for the first 2 under-cooked possibly e-coli ridden meals. Food was nice and prices were really good, however service was abysmal- far too few staff for the size of the place. We asked for five more minutes to decide what to eat and our waiter didn’t come back for half an hour. After an hour and a half we’d only had one drink, despite trying to flag down staff, and staff saying they’d come over, food arrived after we’d been there c. 1h45 and one of our three dishes hadn’t been ordered (it was only nachos!) so we just had two things between us. Also it was the loudest place we’d ever been. The music was good and really fun, but the DJ kept turning up the volume to the point where I had to shout to my wife and couldn’t hear a word she said. I can’t explain how loud it was. A band had been preparing (for ages, not yet on at 10pm) and they looked like they’d be really good, people were dancing and the atmosphere was amazing, however by the time we’d eaten, it was so unbearably loud that I needed to get out. I think bill included 10% service charge that was absolutely not deserved but i couldn’t be bothered to shout...

Good bar but Not a place to party in the New year. We went in for a new year party at 11pm and had a terrible experience. Disclaimer, we love to party and loud music is not an issue for us. But this was the worst DJ music experience. The song choices and all were fine, but the DJ would not shut up!! In a music set of 10mins, the DJ would be speaking/screaming on the mic for 6mins. He would speak atleast every 30secs...killing the vibe or any drop in the beat. I understand he was trying to keep the energy high, but the energy was already up and it seemed more that he needed attention! We left quite early and enjoyed our time at the open kitchen party. The bar guy was awesome though and if it were not for the DJ I would have given full 5stars just because of the bartender. Cocktails were good and...
