Hotel & Restoran Consul — Hotel in Grad Split

This is a great place to stay. It appears to be family-owned and run by two daughters, Margarita and Magdalena. They are both charming and really helpful. We arrived at 9.30am expecting to leave our bags at reception. However, Margarita was more than happy for us to check into a room straight away, and even offered us breakfast. We ate dinner in the restaurant and really enjoyed the traditional cooking. The ćevapi, in particular, was delicious and very reasonably priced. The evening finished with a round of drinks on the house before we retired to our balcony prior to going to sleep. We had a good sized suite with two bedrooms, with probably the largest bed that I'd ever seen in our room.

There was a good selection of fruits, eggs, cheeses and meats for breakfast, setting us up nicely for the day.

I would definitely stay at the Consul hotel again. The hospitality, in particular, was up there with the best that I've experienced...

This is a family run hotel, reasonably priced, not super flash but clean enough, very quiet and our bed was comfortable. It is within easy walking distance of the old town and there are plenty of eateries etc nearby. |We were quite tired after a full day's travel and having walked a considerable distance, we opted to eat at the hotel. Hmmm, not the smartest decision we've made. Both the meals were deep fried, one was schnitzel and the other a cordon bleu (can you tell the difference) with loads of chips and not very appetizing at all.|Breakfast was included but what a disaster - again it was hard to tell the difference between the omelette and scrambled eggs, both were swimming in oil. |Service at the hotel, bar and restaurant...

What I liked the most is the friendliness of the staff. Consul looks like a boutique hotel, quite cozy with a nice shaded area outside for coffee or anything else. It has everything you need in the room, except the safe.Room is small but very clean. Bed was ok, the vinyl on one side of my bed was worn out so sadly. Not much of a selection for breakfast but the food was in good quality. Bus stops to airport or old town are a few steps away. Lots of restaurants in the neighborhood too.|The drawback is there is no elevator. Staff helped me bring my suitcase during check in and check out. Really appreciated...
