Spare yourself and stay anywhere else. There is no reception, common room, kitchen, nothing. Not even a regular front door. Just rooms. To check in you have to go to this tiny booth in the public bar nearby. We arrived 8 minutes after that reception booth closed (even though we told them we would be a few minutes late), and no one was there. Finally a guy working at the pizza place next door felt bad and said he would find someone to help. Some lady came out and told us to go across the city center to find “night reception.” Our phones were almost dead, so it took us 20 minutes to find this other place. When we got there, no one was at this “night reception,” just a sign saying to go BACK to the original hostel. We went all the way back and finally just got a friend who was already inside the hostel to let us in. It wasn’t until the morning that a staff member woke us up to check us in. This hostel has NO community, NO common areas. The only benefit is that there is a bar downstairs (separate and public, not part of the hostel) but they play loud music and people yelling until 2/3 AM. Also the staff was awful. They acted like any question was a huge inconvenience for them. We asked to store our bags after check out, but the guy working was so annoyed we were bothering him and said they have no place to store bags. Finally we convinced him to let us keep our bags in some small closet until we needed to go to our bus. So know that there is no bag storage. So bizarre because I’ve never had such a weird hostel with no community and not even a common room or reception area. Just stay...
Read moreReally wish I could leave a good review for this place because the volunteers were so much fun and the drinking games were great but there were too many dodgy things that happened that meant I didn’t feel great in this hostel. First they only take cash but the reception is in a card only bar. Also they don’t let you store luggage so if you are getting their early good luck. Got there at 10am and they looked at me like I was insane for asking if they had a place for me to put my bag. The big thing for me was when I was leaving I set my alarm for 10 mins before checkout because I packed the night before. At about quarter to 10 the receptionist came round to the rooms to yell at everyone to wake up and check out was in 12 mins. Because I was a bit slower because I’d packed the night before she shook my shoulders. I was honestly a bit freaked out and scared. Being a solo female traveller to be woken up by someone with their hands on your shoulders is pretty freaky. Again the people who volunteer at the hostel and run the drinking games are so much fun but i felt kinda unsafe especially on the...
Read more"Social" hostel is really a hit-or-miss, greatly depends on your roommates, but unfortunately I had a terrible ones during my stay. 4 group of friends stayed along with me in a 6-bed room, they owned the room, so messy and left no personal space. I had to leave the hostel until 00.00 when they finally left for partying. Even then, they decided to leave their keys inside the room and banged the door multiple times when me and 1 other (nice) roommate were trying to sleep. What do you expect? Hostel rooms have to be locked when you're out. Do you think banging the door louder from time to time will solve your problem? This review is still excluding all the loud ruckus after they came back from the party. Such ill-mannered people.
I understand that this is not the hostel fault at all, and I was unlucky to meet them. But I hope the hostel team can enforce quiet times regulation for better hospitality. Allowing social environment does not mean that you disregard manner and...
