The best hotel in Zadar - I believe so.|One of those rare hotels that it is extremely difficult to find anything to dislike or moan about.||A genuine warm welcome. |We were a little early to check in but our luggage was stored for us and was waiting in our room when we came back later.|My request for a room with a bath tub & shower over rather than just a walk in shower was met with no problem.||The bed was really comfortable and it is worth noting that this is one of the few hotels where the pillows actually had some substance so your head didn’t just end up millimetres above the mattress.|Slippers, bath robes, a decent sized easy to get safe too plus very efficient air conditioning helped make the room an excellent sanctuary from the heat and bustle outside.|The only thing which could have been improved upon was storage for socks, |t- shirts etc as the only drawers were in the bedside cabinets.|There were very few coat hangers in the wardrobe but a call to reception had extra arrive in seconds - yes amazingly quickly.||When we told reception we were going swimming, complimentary beach towels were kindly offered without us having to ask.|Little things like that all make the stay more pleasant and enjoyable.||Breakfast was from 0730 - 1100 hrs so there was never a rush and we didn’t feel rushed either.|A cold buffet selection of fresh fruit, cold meats, breads and juice was good.|A comprehensive choice of hot food was cooked to order.|Anything from Eggs Benedict, avocado on toast & bacon, smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, full cooked breakfasts or pancakes were all on offer with combinations of any the above possible -nothing was too much trouble for the friendly and very efficient staff.||Its location almost on one of the corners of the old town made finding it after an exploration very easy.|There is some on site parking too.||This smaller boutique style hotel really was one of the best I have stayed in.|I can’t recommend it highly enough. |It would be my first choice should we...
Read moreA special and delightful hotel. A special thanks to Ivan, Mario ) front desk) and Julia ( breakfast server) for their wonderful service and smiles. This hotel is beautiful. Historic building in the Old Town. Walking distance to everything one needs to see plus markets and restaurants. The sea organ is a 4 minute walk. And it's a must visit. Preferably at sunset for the solar sidewalk display and the always stunning sunsets. The hotel room was very spacious. Lots of room and storage. A super comfy bed and pillows. Windows can be opened for fresh air. We were room 404 with a view of the harbor. The bathroom is large and good water pressure which is a big deal for me. Smart TV so you can watch your Netflix should you want to. Plus there's CNN for English news. The breakfast was fantastic. You can order whatever you want from omelets to benedicts to avocado toast..plus breads, fruits, cheeses, meats, juices, coffees, teas. Julia is so nice and helpful as she is the breakfast server. Always smiling ! The young man who's also there whose name I didn't get is also very nice and helpful. The lobby bar and bartender are nice and we were able to try local specialties such as a clear maraschino liquor and a cherry red liqueur. The staff does above and beyond to help the guests. There is nothing negative that can be said. We'd highly recommend the Bastion Hotel and we hope to come back and visit again. We didn't eat dinner there but the restaurant has a 2024...
Read moreHotel Bastion was definitely a mixed bag. The hotel itself is beautiful and conveniently located just inside the city walls and near the harbor. The rooms were clean and the staff was polite. Marina, one of the people who staff the front desk, was incredible. We wanted to book a private boat tour, and she was able to do that for us the night before. She also helped us locate several services in town that we needed.||The lowlights were breakfast (at one point, there were no plates at the buffet, no and glasses, and they had run out of fruit and certain breads. The orange juice, apple juice and coffee varied from poor to undrinkable in the case of the coffee (contained grounds, was lukewarm, etc.). Orders from the kitchen took 40 minutes or more. The dining room was full of people at a buffet who could not eat because the food and the dishes were scarce. This happened on both mornings we were there.||Finally, we asked for late check-out in order to do laundry, and they flatly said no. We had to go out and do our own laundry and check out at 11:00, despite the guest book in the room saying they offered laundry service and checkout was at 12:00. We also were running late because of the breakfast issues, and ultimately left breakfast without getting our hot food orders.||Again, the rooms and location (and Marina!) were excellent. Otherwise, they were seemingly understaffed and/or unwilling/unable to help with some...
