We had dinner in this restaurant 3 times over the past week when we stayed in Zadar. Hidden in a side street but still close to the cathedral, in a charming alley. First time we got carbonara and spaghetti bolognese, both were great and super tatsty. We also got an extra side salad with cheese. Second time we had chicken burger and cheese nuggets, both perfectly average but filling. Last time it was on Saturday, because we wanted to have some nice dinner before flight back home, and we were surprised. The prices were 2-3 Euros higher per each position on the menu than on week days. The portions were still big but the quality was much worse. I got the same pasta we had first time and the bacon was half-raw and the whole dish not seasoned enough. And no side salad this time. In overall, the food over the week was decent and I am happy we found the place. Yet, I am dissappointed by the worsened quality and the price increase. Especially that the old prices were still visible in the menu, written by pencil and only...
Read moreAs is common in most city center restaurants, we were approached on the street by very friendly waiters.
The atmosphere was nice, with seating located in a small alleyway in front of the “restaurant,” which is essentially a small grill snack bar.
Food and drinks were served promptly, and even special requests like “Apfelschorle” were no problem.
The food was okay, though overall a bit weaker compared to the competition in the area.
The pljeskavica that was served was clearly frozen. The spaghetti carbonara wasn’t made with Pecorino Romano and guanciale, but with cream, egg, and bacon — fine for those who like that style.
We were a bit negatively surprised by the pricing of the “chicken nuggets with fries,” which turned out to be 8 frozen nuggets with some steak fries for over €15.
Typical city center tourist prices.
We’ve definitely had better and more authentic meals in Croatia, but the service and location were superb. We’d rate the food as...
Read moreFood - nothing special, same as other places. Menu said calamari with fried potatoes and we were served French fries. When we asked the waitress to suggest us something she said that she wouldn’t have any dishes from the menu because she eats only chicken. At the very end the waitress had huge issue with splitting our bill to pay half with credit card while she didn’t even ask which kind of payment we would prefer. Then started complaining how we slowed down the service which was caused by her in the first place. After a little argument the other waiter intervened talking in Croatian to which I remarked I didn’t understand him which made him mutter something that sounded like obscenities. All in all we managed to pay with credit card but the service wasted a lot of the time for something that should have been a very...
