Stari grad Zadar — Attraction in Grad Zadar

We really enjoyed our time in Old Town Zadar. It’s a beautiful mix of history, seaside atmosphere, and relaxed Mediterranean life. The narrow stone streets, old buildings, and small squares give the place a lot of charm without feeling too crowded or touristy.

There’s plenty to see — the Roman Forum, St. Donatus Church, and the Bell Tower are all worth a visit. But what makes Zadar special is the combination of history and modern art. The Sea Organ and Greeting to the Sun on the waterfront are simple but fascinating — you can just sit there, listen to the sound of the sea, and watch the sunset.

We also liked how easy it was to find good food. There are lots of small restaurants and cafés serving local dishes and fresh seafood, all at fair prices.

Old Town Zadar is fantastic. It's a unique blend of old and new. While it's man-made, the Sea Organ moved me to tears. In town you can walk among the archeological sites, shop for souvenirs from street vendors, and wander the endless alleys of unique little shops and cafes. Old Town is clean and the people are friendly if you strike up a conversation. I was able to try pasticada (that I wasn't able to find in my day in Dubrovnik) at a lovely quiet, peaceful little restaurant. There are also plenty of shops where you can get modern clothes and whatever other supplies/sundries you may need. Zadar’s Old Town is a vibrant and lively area set right on the seafront, blending history, culture, and a true holiday atmosphere. The narrow streets are lined with historic buildings, charming churches, and beautiful squares shaded by trees — perfect for a mid-day break.
