Madonna Apartments — Hotel in okres Karlovy Vary

PROS:|Good location - near the Mill Colonnade, Diana Lookout, Vrídlo. The apartment was spacious and had a good view of the Teplá River, Mill Colonnade and nearby buildings from the balcony. But there’s lots of good spa hotels and apartments in the area offering these perks too at almost same rates - we recommend checking them instead.||CONS:|1. Smelly bed, bedsheets & towels; but the host took action the next day after we complained. We had one sleepless night due to this and uncomfortable sleep the rest of our stay (whilst the bed was changed) due to the bed’s poor quality.|2. Incompetent, uncaring host - we had to message him/her about every thing, e.g. check in & check out procedures, apartment faults, etc. No reception so connecting was really a challenge.|3. Defective, thin window blinds - we can be seen from outside and the room is still lit at night whilst the blinds were closed.|4. Broken shower handle; hence the bath time is doubled.|5. Very loud noises, foot steps, and cigarette smells from the neighboring...

BEWARE: 1. There's NO reception, in case you are not sure exactly at what time you'll arrive. A sign at the door indicates a phone to call, which can be difficult if you are not from CZ and don't have a local phone/internet access. After I managed to get wifi, I used Skype and someone came with the keys about 15 min later. The guy was rude and terribly unwelcoming. Despite the hot weather, no aircon or fan provided. As we opened the windows to get some fresher air at night, room was completely invaded by all sorts of mosquitoes. Also no insecticide available in the apartment. NO BLACKOUT CURTAINS! We woke up before 5am and could not sleep anymore. Sunrise is really early this time of the year so it becomes uncomfortable with sunlight and heat.

Shockingly, just one day before my arrival, the property cancelled my booking, claiming they were fully booked.
