We choose this precious little gem in the heart of Karlovy Vary for a short stay in the city. We traveled by car, and thanks to the very detailed route information provided by the hotel it was a breeze finding it. The hotel is located in a pedestrian only zone protected by bollards in the road. The hotel will lower them for you on request by a simple SMS. In our case the road blocks had been down all time, maybe because of the film festival taking place shortly after our visit. The hotel provided a parking lot for us in very short walking distance. On checkout we didn't even bother to bring the car to the hotel but just dragged our luggage that few meters to the parking space. Please not that the hotel has different parking locations located around the hotel. We were greeted by a very, very friendly lady at the desk how helped us with check in and all kinds of questions I usually have regarding our stay or shopping locations. That actually was a highlight of our stay. Very friendly staff- from the folks at the desk, to the waiters in the restaurant and the cleaning personal. These encounters alone made our stay well worth and unforgettable! The hotel building is a renovated old building with the charm of one of these baroque buildings that you come to admire in this beautiful city. Our room was very clean. Furniture and bath equipment was fairly recent, but in a style that fit the character of this building. The breakfast was stellar! As other reviewers have noted, the morning buffet really lacked nothing. Everything was fresh and lovely decorated. Breakfast for us is where we eat the most, so it was the best possible start of the day. In short, we tremendously enjoyed our time there and picking this hotel would be our first choice when we will travel to...
Read moreFirst, the good:||Staff was kind and professional, I have never found the reception office to be empty. ||Barely noticed the cleaning crew, but the room was cleaned consistently. The interface for interacting with staff was seamless and convenient. One person actually refused a tip until after she has cleaned my room. Odd, but admirable.||Restaurant has quality coffee machines in place of a generic pot (as is customary in the area). ||Restaurant service is top notch, I couldn’t even leave a tip under a dirty dish because those were instantly removed.||There’s two elevators and the stairs are quickly accessible.||Now, the bad:||Hotel room had two small blankets instead of a large one, which would barely be enough for one tall person, let alone a couple. We were two tall people struggling to stay covered. Reception responded that that’s the only size they have and perhaps I should consider shopping for blankets independently.||The room safe box locks and unlocks with a dedicated card. Unfortunately, there is no suitable solution for two people using the safe: you can get two cards, but only one of them will unlock the safe. Not a giant deal, but an annoying issue to face for sure. The receptionist seemed to think every card unlocks every safe, which would be baffling.||Hot water ran out quickly, but the issue was fixed the next day after notifying staff.||Parking is a bit of a walk away (a trade off for the prime location of the hotel itself) and could use a quick access elevator to the hotel proper.||All in all, I’m somewhat surprised Romance rates so highly relatively to other hotels in the area. I’ve stayed in 3 or 4 over the past decade and literally NONE of them had...
Read moreWe were very lucky with this place, had the balcony room with the view, enjoyed the meals, and the helpfulness of the reception. Booked it through their website after finding them on booking.
Would definitely recommend this place, and will stay there again for a remote work trip, maybe.
✨ Our room on the 2nd floor was also right in front of a kitchenette with a small fridge, a cooker, a microwave, plates & pots. If you need to, you can cook for yourself in this hotel! That's absolutely amazing, a rare thing.
In our rooms we also had the water included, and enjoyed mattoni quite a bit. Prague water tastes like shit after coming back from it :D
👀 Note: in October there are fewer tourists, so the next door restaurant wasn't operating, making the place & our room very quiet. Could imagine it being a louder spot in the summers. The October crowds were mainly calm. Also the hikes (to the Goethova tower, to Diana, Doubi and Locket) were amazing, easily accessible from the hotel, and the autumn views were breathtaking.
❗Comment for the hotel: please consider using a more neutral detergent for your towels, and especially the bath robes :3 ❗For the kitchen staff: please do announce the end of the meal time, a last call for those who maybe want another cup of coffee, before cleaning it...
