Before going to the hotel I read the recent reviews and I must say that both sides positive and negative were right about some things. I spend two weeks at the hotel, because of work training I had in Prague. I will write first the negatives and then the positives.
Negatives:
Hotel room cleanliness - The room was semi-clean. I saw that the charlady cleaned the floor, but there was dust on the tables the whole first week even though, she was cleaning the room daily. I know it, because I locked my room twice and she always left it on one lock. The second week the tables were cleaned in the beginning, but i guess her rag left small hairs on the table, so it looked like she didn't clean it anyway? Definitely recommend better quality rags for the hotel staff, so they can make the rooms beautifully clean and leave a feeling, that the rooms are taken care of. Another thing was, there was grey blanket layed over the bed as a decoration. The room at first sight looked beautiful, but when I came closer the blanket was stained with something sticky... i don't even want to know, what was it. But it left me with disgusted feeling. I folded the blanket on right side of the bed so the stain is on top and the lady notices, but she just left it like that both two weeks. That was major negative for me. I don't know how many stuff is there to clean the hotel, but if there is just the one lady I was meeting those two weeks, I recommend to hire at least one or two more cleaning ladies, so they have more time, to take care of the hotel rooms.
Hotel room condition - The table with both night tables had small damages, which were very visible since they were in black colour. The chairs were stained, seemed like someone in the past stained it with beer or smth like that? The glass on the kitchennette was cracked, the glass between bedroom and bathroom was cracked too and it was just taped. The upper showerhead was rusty and dirty, thank god they had another smaller shower head there, but the showerhead holder was holding only on one screw, so if you turned the water on, it started spinning and sprayed everything with water, so watch out for that. The kitchennette drawers were broken too, it was falling out, whenever i wanted to gently pull it out, so I can use spoon. Also in the bathroom sink you could literally look into the pipes, it would be nice, if you had a cover there or something. Ladies wear rings and other stuff and it may happen that something falls there.
Definitely recommend to check the rooms, repair things that are broken. Replace things that aren't functioning. Buy new furniture or at least color the furniture damages black too, so it's not so visible? It seems like the owner doesn't care much about the hotel state?
Positives: Hotel staff - They were very kind to me, explained everything thoroughly. Whenever I needed something, they made sure I'm informed and taken care of.
Hotel area - The hotel is close to the centre, so you can literally walk or travel with public transport anywhere. Right next to the hotel, there is small vietnamese market with grocerries, so if you need to cook, you can get your food there.
Balcony - although the balcony looked horrible (cracked floor), it was very nice for the view and for relaxing.
Beds - Hotel bed was very comfortable and squishy. If you are a person, who likes more of a sturdy matraces... I'm sorry this isn't your jam.
Small kitchen with little fridge available, since they didn't offer breakfasts, because of Covid19
The bathroom - It was so big and beautiful, for me it was the nicest area in the whole hotel room.
Open wardrobe with one more blanket and small safe which you can use for expensive things you bring with you.
The hotel stay was nice, i didn't mind the cracked furniture after some time. If you need to stay there it is, what it is you know. But for the future I definitely recommend to buy new furniture or at least repair it. If you need a cheaper place, where you just need to sleep at and ocasionally shower, this is the...
Read moreWe want to share our horrible travel exeperience at the Purpur hotel, Prague between Nov 4-6/11, 2020
If possible, just STAY AWAY from this place. Anything else in Prague but NOT Purpur Hotel & Andel Hotel for your stay with the same (corrupt)owner.
The hotel does not live up to the advertising at all, displaying false photos at Booking.com.
By the instructions of the management, the staff will do #everything, literally everything to ruin your travel experience, to abuse your trust and to abuse even your credit cards, which is really alarming!
Their goal is to make you feel #guilty like you committed a #crime by visiting Purpur hotel. And make you as a #client pay for their failed business methods (!?) (This all during the covid-19 pandemic with almost no tourists, travel restrictions & total lockdown in town!!)
Firstly, the rooms are of poor standard, definitely not even 3 stars. Facilities are not functioning, (no breakfast, no TV, no staff at checkin, no staff available to help, no answer on the #emergency number)
Moreover, each of your moves will be monitored and used against you. The staff tries to punish you by withdrawing from your credit card for anything you do, using false accusations.
*first the fee of 40 eur is deposed from your credit card with or without your approval *the staff uses minibar as an excuse I as a guest actually had to close my credit card for this reason. its very #alarming when the hotel managenent is using this kind of #illegal methods Nobody wants their credit card to be skimmed or misused during their travel. It's THE WORST POSSIBLE scenario. It's really ALARMING.
Due to all the complaints above, we wanted to get to contact with the owner of the both hotels in the morning of 6/11. Our request was denied.
We wanted to quit the nightmare stay in Purpur and booked another hotel at night of 5/6/11
We were totally chocked when the Purpur staff started to attack us verbally next morning when we went down for the breakfast. *our breakfast was denied because we arrived 4 minutes (!!)too late *90% of the items at the breakfast buffet were not fresh/used from the week before the same staff/=cleaning lady (!!!) was working both in the kitchen (with food) and later on cleaning the rooms and toilets WITHOUT the gloves (!!!) (photo evidence) we (2) were the only guests in the whole hotel. There was 4-5persons behind the reception in morning of 6/11 particularly one was very aggressive and offensive against us, with, no reason (we even captured her on the photo) *no staff was available at night btw 4- 5/11 when we got into the emergency situation caused by the hote management. We were given a key that broke immediately at the 1st use. *nobody answered the emergency number at night the checkin was made difficult since all the doors were closed and no staff was in the reception (we arrived in time at 19 pm) our 1st night in Purpur hotel we had to spend in the street outside (!!), freezing & desperate since the hotel key broke INSTANTLY at the first use (!!) =bad quality Nobody had warned us for this, neither that any help was available. the staff did to answer our numerous emergency calls all night between 4/5/11 while we were outside in the steet, desperate and freezing first at 07.08 in the morning of 5/11 we got an SMS from the staff *the staff still charged FULL FEE even after having locked out us at the frist night of 4-5/11. No one should have this kind of start of their travel !!
*unnecessary penalties were applied for each our move in the hotel due to this incident I had to block my main credit card during the stay *rooms were a lot below the actual standard, not as shown in the photos at Booking.com And the final complaint, also quite horrifying. Our balcony was located high up at the 4rd floor and missing a protective fence. This could be a fatal disaster f ex for a disabled person or a family travelling with small kids. The balcony is totally exposed ca 25 meter downwards without any protection.
The basic safety issues in the hotel...
Read moreThis is a thorough and detailed review, i hope i can help anyone rule out this hotel if they have similiar trip goals to me and my partner who went for a cutesy valentine week (:||Pros - Location is great, near some cafes |and pretty close to the centeral area, max 20 min walk from anywhere we wanted to visit||The staff was nice, one of them seeme to |dislike us ||Cheap price||Cons - |They do NOT serve breakfast even though they clearly state they do, they even have a door with the title "breakfast area", and some tables right near the reception, yet the staff insisted they do not serve breakfast to anyone, and pointed out it isnt listed as one of |their services on booking.com||The heating system kind of sucks, we went in february when it was snowing and freezing so that was pretty annoying||and also the shower is covered with a curtain and no glass, so you must use 2 towels to soak the water from the floor... || Furthermore, we booked a king sized for the both of us, and in reality, it was two tiny small beds that were put close to each other(not even tied, you could easily seperate them), my partner and i seriously woke up in the middle of almost every night from almost falling in the gap created between the beds, then had to fix it and unfortunately sleep selerately. The staff refused to aid me with this and this is what annoyed me the most. ||Overall a crisp and very poor 2/5|Please get better and do as you advertise...
