I stayed at the Grandior hotel for five nights in February 2025 with a friend I came to Prague with a group of friends for a birthday vacation. We were party of people of colour. During our stay we were accused of stealing single bedsheets and linen by the Reception Manager. We had chosen to change our own bedding as we had asked for our bedding to be changed and it never happened. We took some bedding from the laundry station to do it ourselves. There were a few bedsheets leftover which my friend left on top of his suitcase which was upright on its wheels and closed. We then were out all day sightseeing with our party and returned in the late evening.
When we returned to our room we found that the key cards were inactive and we returned it to the reception to get the keys reactivated. We met with the reception manager who checked the keys and then accused us of stealing bedsheets and threatened to call the police citing this as theft and remonstrated with us like schoolchildren about theft and removing property. We were shocked at the accusation by this man but didnt argue with him just to get to our rooms as it was pointless arguing with such an ignorant man as this. At no point did he ask for us to explain that we had changed our own bedding and towels and hence the reason for the spare sheets in the room laying on top of hte suitcase
The manager after his lecture re-activated our keys and we went upstairs with a security guy who removed the spare bedsheets that were on top of the closed suitcase.
We have since complained about our treatment to the Hotel. We were told that sheets were seen inside our closed and upright suitcase. This is untrue.
Perhaps they think people of colour save good money to visit Prague just to steal single bedsheets which has been washed and pressed hundreds of times.
Naturally this has significantly impacted on our experience of staying in this hotel and from the subsequent correspondence the tone of which is quite defensive and passive aggressive we are very clear that we were treated differently by the hotel staff as people of colour.
As a frequent traveller this has been a sobering experience and one that I haven't encountered before as someone who has also worked in several hotels.
I would not recommend this hotel particularly to any person of colour and I would advise them to chose an alternative hotel of which there are plenty .
Prague is a wonderful city and alas this is not a good base to explore it from. My other friends stayed at the Innside by Melia and rate their stay...
Read moreRecently stayed here for a short-break in Prague which I booked with British Airways Holidays. I didn't know what to expect but I had a wonderful stay.
The hotel is in a good location and easy to each by Metro within 5 mins walking distance. You can get there by taking the Metro Red Line (C) from the Main Station - Nadrazi - one stop to Florenc then walk up to the underpass and cross the street past the Mc Donalds and a few shops then you see the hotel outside the tram stop.
From the outside, the exterior doesn't look particularly fancy but once you step into the lobby, the interior tells you all you need to know, that you are in a decadent, luxury hotel. The Reception is well staffed. Check-In was very easy and straight-forward, I was offered for my luggage to be taken to my room but I politely declined as I could manage myself. The guy who checked me in was very friendly and polite.
When I saw the escalators to go upstairs, then I realised this is a reputable, upscale hotel which means business, once up the escalators, you can see the conference rooms then another foyer with lifts.
I cannot fault the room I was given. I was in awe. A room with ample space for a lone female, I felt like a Princess. Everything was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was a good size, plenty of towels and good shower pressure, although I think the showerhead was a bit light for the pressure of the water but that is trivial.
The door did feel a bit loose so I used my doorstop for protection/against banging. By and large mostly quiet apart from people closing doors a bit loudly.
Breakfast wasn't obvious where to go as it was quite well hidden but once I found it, I was ok. There was something for everyone - Cooked food items - Eggs, sausages, beans, Fruits, Pastries, Rolls, the lot, anything you can think of, they had it. Fruit Juices and Hot Drinks machine. You could have as much as you want. Plenty of space to sit. Very clean.
Overall a wonderful stay here, cannot fault the hotel. Thank you to the lady on reception when I checked on Thurs 04-09-25 who helped me so I could send my postcard to my Mum. Very helpful and much appreciated. I was able to leave my luggage free of charge till the evening before my flight.
A short walk to the Jerusalem Synagogue/Powder Tower. The tram is on the doorstep.
Plenty of food places and mini markets on the street as well as LIDL's supermarket. Definitely recommend the Grandior as good...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel from April 5th to 8th the the experience has been less than impressive. Even though the staff is very respectful and helpful, the amenities in the hotel lack a lot to be desired. First the positives, the location of the hotel is excellent near the old town square within 12 mins walk. There is a tram station right in front of the hotel. A number of supermarkets and fast food and other restaurants are within the 5 mins walk. The rooms are not huge but they are well appointed and look nice. Now the opportunities for improvement: The wifi in the room is very very spotty at best. When you are standing at the door of the room, wifi strength is ok but as soon as you move into the room and sit on the chair or bed, wifi goes down and it is difficult to even surf the Internet, leave apart watching YouTube or making FaceTime calls. We checked 3 rooms and all of them had this problem and on all our devices (2 iPhones and 2 iPads). Despite our repeated complaints to front desk, they couldn’t fix it. They sent a technician on Friday and even his own phone couldn’t connect to the wifi. The bathroom is decorated well but is not practically designed. There is no place to keep your kit bags or other toiletries. The shower/tub combination has half glass cover and there’s only a hand shower which can be fixed but it splashes water on the floor and sink because there is no glass cover on the other half of the tub. There are no USB A or C connection anywhere in the room or bathroom. There is a manual box with 2 USB-A connection on the desk but they are extremely slow. The hotel staff was nice to provide me 2 adapters to charge my North American devices. There is no coffee maker in the room and also no creamers for your coffee or tea. They have provided a small electric kettle to boil the water. No complimentary water bottles in the room. The buffet breakfast looked amazing at first but seriously lack variety. The lady at the omelette station burned my friend’s omelette and served it as it is without even asking if she should make a new one. She made medium over eggs for me but yolk of both eggs stuck to the bottom of the pan and she served me the eggs without the yolk. There were no fresh cut fruits nor any greens.
I would not recommend this hotel as it is definitely not...
