The venue of scams. Smetana Hall is beautiful and it's a venue for many classical concerts for tourists. You can find these concerts and tickets all over the net. We went to a "Best of Classics" concert. We bought overpriced tickets - almost 50 euros / one ticket. When we arrived to Smetana hall, we were suprised that it's almost empty. When we booked a ticket, the system showed there's only 15 tickets left! Very funny.
But the worst part: people sitting in the back (cheaper seats) moved to the most expencive seats just before the music started. I heard them talking later on, that they had a permission to "upgrade" their seat without a fee, since the hall was almost empty. There were about 20 of us who had paid overpriced ticket! and we were quite angry. Later on I heard this is the normal procedure in Smetana Hall concerts and found similar reviews like this.
Concluson: It's a rip-off, scam. The concert itself was mediocre. Not bad, but not the best. But if you're planning to book "best of classics", "best of Mozart" etc concerts that take place in Smetana hall, DO NOT PAY THE HIGHEST PRICE! Even if you want to have the best seats! Pay for the cheapest and then "upgrade" yourself. The hall will be almost empty, you'll find plenty...
Read moreI had the pleasure of visiting Smetana Hall in Prague, and it was an experience that exceeded my expectations. What stood out most was the incredible warmth and helpfulness of the staff. As we were traveling with a baby stroller, navigating historic venues can often be challenging. However, the staff at Smetana Hall went above and beyond to assist us, ensuring our visit was comfortable and accessible. This level of service truly made our experience memorable.
Regarding the performance, while the orchestra was smaller than I anticipated, their performance was nothing short of amazing. The quality of music, the passion of the musicians, and the acoustics of the hall combined to create a magical and intimate atmosphere. It was a delightful surprise to see how such a compact ensemble could deliver such a powerful and captivating musical experience.
Smetana Hall itself is a marvel, boasting stunning architecture and a rich history that adds to the...
Read moreWe attended a concert of Mahler’s Symphony No. 6 at Smetana Hall — the performance was outstanding, and the venue itself is beautiful.
Sadly, the experience was marred by an elderly staff member who treated us, as Asian visitors, with visible hostility. When we politely asked in English where we could leave our bags, she refused to respond in English and waved us off rudely in Czech.
We’ve attended concerts at Musikverein (Vienna) and Gewandhaus (Leipzig), and were always treated with kindness and respect. What happened here felt cold, unwelcoming, and discriminatory.
A venue of this status should ensure all guests — local or international — are treated with...
