Mamaison Residence Downtown Prague — Hotel in Prague

This is our home away from home, located mare 10 walking minutes from Prague center, with having Štěpánská tram station (4 min) to IP Pavlova tram station ( 5 min) near by ,from excellent and prompt communication and booking via Jakub Churan In reservations department,through email communication via Miss Tereza to VIP taxi services ,always on time, patient, with spanking clean, spacious car and the absolute fresh air in hotel reception- Miss Cecília , always there with a smile, speaks multiple languages, has a patience of a Greek Goddess and treats you with respect ,love and mom like Hugs and understanding after a Long day travel that a vary traveller just may need. I am a mom to 2 kids,who have special needs ,but invisible to a naked eye. I am battling a health battle I must win. Everyone at this hotel has been extremely accomodating to our needs, kitchen staff included and let me tell you about the breakfast. Always fresh, always warm and always plenty. Wide selection of vibrant colors fruits and vegetables. Tea, coffee, hot chocolates, baked goods from chocolate croissants to crusty stone oven baked french baguettes with locally sourced jams and butter. Cupcakes.Huge selection of cold cuts, hams/turkeys/ salami/ cheddar to Mozzarella to Gouda cheeses and fresh farmed eggs. Oh, don't forget the crisp bacon ,sausages and hotdogs. Everything from apples to oranges to bananas. Oats, granolas, dried fruits. Fresh squeezed orange or apple juice. And the cinnamon sugar ( if you choose) filled crêpes. You will welcome the watermelon slices, especially on those hot summer days.No rush in the mornings,in the kitchen, when more is needed, staff immediately goes in the kitchen and fills up the plates. Rooms. Beds are big, with large comfortable pillows and bedding. Bathrobes and towels are welcoming you in clean and always tidy bathroom,which is always stocked with all the items you may ever meet. Do opt for a room with a kitchenette,it comes so handy, especially if you have children. Love the spaces fridge/ freezer combo, stove and dining room areas. Living room is perfect for any family. TV for everyone to enjoy. And if you need anything,help is just a phone call away. But wait,there is more!! Playroom/ game Room! Study/ work center. Wellness with massages and facials and sauna. And this hotel has windows that actually OPEN- I Love love this fact. So many hotels are so stuffy inside,one just cannot breath. Also, you may choose to sit outside with your breakfast,and in the evening,enjoy a romantic glass of wine on a room top, overlooking Prague's sunset. And do not forget you, the history buff, this hotel resides right next to the famous St. Štěpán church ,church from the second half of the 14 th century. We are so greateful for Mamaison Downtown residence hotel. And so will you. With lasting...

Oh my gosh..... Where do I even start. Stay here at your own risk. A rude skinny old blonde lady working at the breakfast tell patrons it's closed at 10 everyday, and races customer to clean up everything, she literally pickup every food tray and cutlery so you cannot get it. When ALL the other staff tells me breakfast finishes at 1030, even if you come in at 10:01. Apparently because I notice the left over food are for staff meals , so she's really saving food for herslef... Her nametag is Julia or Jilka or soemthing. And FYI she never smiles out of the 6 days of our stay.

On the 4th Day the second time she was rude to us, we confronted her directly and complained furiously about it and she never dared to say that in front of us again. But we find it uncomfortable how she discriminate us selectively to the polite customers and didn't treat someone else poorly who came in even later than us, and certainly didn't rudely announce to them "NO BREAKFAST, Finished !!". With her hands waving an X like a baseball umpire.

And also the spa lady told my friends the Jacuzzi is closed and the water is already shut off, but I wanted to see what the Jacuzzi looks like anyways, so 5 minutes later I went back to take a look. I went to take a look at saw two people having sex in there. Needless to say we never went back... after I left in disgust the young female attendent ran out in fear, and asking if she can help me ( I guess she wanted to find out if I saw what's going on ). There's two explainations, A. She is paid off and covering for the couple, B. She knew two customers were making love in the water, bit was too embrassed and didn't know how to handle it, so instead of kicking them out she kicked everyone else out. But its not the right way to treat customer.

Having said all that, the Front desk staffs were always courteous and very helpful. Hence the two stars instead of one. It should be a one Star. Because of all these rude employees the hire, I can tell a dysfunctional management...

EDIT: After checking with the person I travelled with, it would appear that I was, in fact, wrong about the stated breakfast times. I have adjusted my score and review accordingly

First, the positives:

The girl who checked us in was incredibly helpful, even changing the room to an accessible one as I was unexpectedly confined to a wheelchair during the stay (although she did keep calling it a 'handicap' room, an outdated and mildly offensive term)

Room was spotlessly clean

Due to it being a wheelchair-accessible room, it had a wet room in place of a normal setup

The location is great for tourism, although the quickest routes to both public transport and the city centre don't give a great first impression of Prague

Now for the negatives:

The part of the bathroom floor under the shower that slopes to the drain is too small, s othe shower sprays onto the rest of the floor, which is level. This lead to half a centimetre of water over almost the entire bathroom floor which took several hours to drain away

The breakfast was... not great. None of it seemed fresh, and a lot of the cooked food was almost inedibly greasy

All in all, a relatively pleasant stay, let down by the food and...
